因此，主耶和華說，『我憑我的永恆起誓，他既藐視與我所立的誓言，背棄與我所定的約，我必懲罰他。

所以主耶和华如此说：“我指着我的永生起誓，他既轻看指我所起的誓，背弃指我所立的约，我必要使这罪归在他头上。

因此主永恆主這麼說：我指着永活的我來起誓，對他所藐視我發咒起誓的話、和他所違犯我立的約、我一定要將這罪還報在他頭上。

主耶和華曰、我指己生而誓、彼藐我誓、爽我約、我必以此罪歸於其首、

主耶和華又曰、彼藐視約言、而背我命、我指己而誓、必罰其罪、

主天主曰、我指己永生而誓、彼所輕之誓、即向我而發、所背之約、即與我而立、我必加報其身、身原文作首

“‘ Therefore this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, I will repay him for despising my oath and breaking my covenant.

“‘ The Lord and King says,“ Zedekiah didn’t keep the promise he made in my name. He broke the treaty. So I will pay him back. And that is just as sure as I am alive.

Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head.

“ So this is what the Sovereign Lord says: As surely as I live, I will punish him for breaking my covenant and disregarding the solemn oath he made in my name.

“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: As I live, I will bring down on his head my oath that he despised and my covenant that he broke.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ As I live, My oath which he despised and My covenant which he broke, I will certainly inflict on his head.

Therefore thus says the Lord GOD:“ As I live, surely My oath which he despised, and My covenant which he broke, I will recompense on his own head.

Therefore thus saith the Lord Jehovah: As I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, I will even bring it upon his own head.

Therefore, this is what the Lord God says:“ As I live, I will bring down on his head My oath that he despised and My covenant that he broke.

Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD;[ As] I live, surely mine oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even it will I recompense upon his own head.

“‘ Therefore this is what the sovereign LORD says: As surely as I live, I will certainly repay him for despising my oath and breaking my covenant!

“ Therefore the Lord Yahweh says:‘ As I live, I will surely bring on his own head my oath that he has despised and my covenant that he has broken.

我怎能不懲罰他們呢？我怎能不親自報應這樣的國民呢？這是耶和華說的。

「『不可妄用你上帝耶和華的名，違者必被耶和華定罪。

你們偷盜、謀殺、通姦、起假誓、向巴力獻祭、拜素不認識的神明，然後來到這用來敬拜我的殿，站在我面前說自己安全了，以為可以繼續做可憎之事。難道這用來敬拜我的殿在你們眼中竟成了賊窩？這些事，我都看在眼裡。這是耶和華說的。「『你們去我曾選為我名所在之地的示羅，看看我是怎樣因我以色列子民的罪而懲罰那地方的。我對你們的所作所為一再提出警告，你們卻充耳不聞；我呼喚你們，你們卻不回應。這是耶和華說的。因此，我要像對付示羅一樣對付你們所倚靠的這用來敬拜我的殿，對付我賜給你們和你們祖先的土地。我要把你們從我面前趕走，好像從前趕走你們的弟兄以法蓮人一樣。』」

猶大人必認為這是虛假的徵兆。他們曾向巴比倫王發誓效忠，但巴比倫王要使他們想起自己的罪，並擄走他們。「主耶和華說，『因為你們的過犯昭然若揭，你們的罪惡表露無遺，因此，你們必遭擄掠。你這邪惡敗壞的以色列首領啊！你的結局到了，審判你的日子來了。』主耶和華說，『取下你的頭巾，摘下你的冠冕吧，時局轉變了。要提拔卑微的，貶抑高貴的。毀滅，毀滅，我要毀滅這國，使它蕩然無存，直到那應得的人來到後，這國才能得到重建，我要把這國交給他。』

雖然他們憑永活的耶和華起誓，卻口是心非。」
