“‘ As I live— this is the declaration of the Lord GOD— he will die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke.

主永恆主發神諭說：我指着永活的我來起誓：巴王立他做王，他竟藐視了發咒起誓的話，違反了巴王跟他所立的約；因此他一定必死在巴比倫、巴王住的地方。

彼既藐其誓、爽其約、主耶和華曰、我指己生而誓、彼必於立之為王者之都、與之同沒於巴比倫、

我耶和華指己而誓、王子既為巴比倫王所立、藐視其主、爽其盟約、則必至巴比倫而沒、

主天主曰、我指己永生而誓、巴比倫王既立彼為王、彼乃輕視誓言、背棄盟約、必死於巴比倫王之都巴比倫、

“‘ As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, he shall die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose treaty he broke.

“‘ Zedekiah will die in Babylon,’ announces the Lord and King.‘ And that is just as sure as I am alive. He will die in the land of King Nebuchadnezzar, who put him on the throne. Zedekiah didn’t keep his promise to Nebuchadnezzar and broke his treaty.

“ As I live, declares the Lord God, surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die.

No! For as surely as I live, says the Sovereign Lord, the king of Israel will die in Babylon, the land of the king who put him in power and whose treaty he disregarded and broke.

As I live,’ declares the Lord God,‘ In the country of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke, in Babylon he shall certainly die.

‘ As I live,’ says the Lord God,‘ surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke— with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

As I live, saith the Lord Jehovah, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

“ As I live”— this is the declaration of the Lord God—“ he will die in Babylon, in the land of the king who put him on the throne, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke.

[ As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place[ where] the king[ dwelleth] that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he brake,[ even] with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die.

“‘ As surely as I live, declares the sovereign LORD, surely in the city of the king who crowned him, whose oath he despised and whose covenant he broke– in the middle of Babylon he will die!

“‘ As I live,’ says the Lord Yahweh,‘ surely in the place where the king dwells who made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the middle of Babylon he will die.

But I will spread my net over him, and he will be caught in my snare. I will bring him to Babylon, the land of the Chaldeans, yet he will not see it, and he will die there.

Then he blinded Zedekiah and bound him with bronze chains. The king of Babylon brought Zedekiah to Babylon, where he kept him in custody until his dying day.

He despised the oath by breaking the covenant. He did all these things even though he gave his hand in pledge. He will not escape!“‘ Therefore, this is what the Lord GOD says: As I live, I will bring down on his head my oath that he despised and my covenant that he broke.

“‘ For this is what the Lord GOD says: I will deal with you according to what you have done, since you have despised the oath by breaking the covenant.

When a man makes a vow to the LORD or swears an oath to put himself under an obligation, he must not break his word; he must do whatever he has promised.

Then he blinded Zedekiah and put him in bronze chains to take him to Babylon.

who despises the one rejected by the LORD but honors those who fear the LORD, who keeps his word whatever the cost,

The Gibeonites were not Israelites but rather a remnant of the Amorites. The Israelites had taken an oath concerning them, but Saul had tried to kill them in his zeal for the Israelites and Judah. So David summoned the Gibeonites and spoke to them.

But if you refuse to let them go, then I will plague all your territory with frogs.

Then he said to me,“ This is the curse that is going out over the whole land, for everyone who is a thief, contrary to what is written on one side, has gone unpunished, and everyone who swears falsely, contrary to what is written on the other side, has gone unpunished.I will send it out,”— this is the declaration of the LORD of Armies—“ and it will enter the house of the thief and the house of the one who swears falsely by my name. It will stay inside his house and destroy it along with its timbers and stones.”

King Zedekiah of Judah will not escape from the Chaldeans; indeed, he will certainly be handed over to Babylon’s king. They will speak face to face and meet eye to eye.He will take Zedekiah to Babylon, where he will stay until I attend to him— this is the LORD’s declaration. For you will fight the Chaldeans, but you will not succeed.’”

And the king of Babylon made Mattaniah, Jehoiachin’s uncle, king in his place and changed his name to Zedekiah.

This is how we will treat them: we will let them live, so that no wrath will fall on us because of the oath we swore to them.”

Do not misuse the name of the LORD your God, because the LORD will not leave anyone unpunished who misuses his name.

He took one of the royal family and made a covenant with him, putting him under oath. Then he took away the leading men of the land,

senseless, untrustworthy, unloving, and unmerciful.

They speak mere words, taking false oaths while making covenants. So lawsuits break out like poisonous weeds in the furrows of a field.

unloving, irreconcilable, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, without love for what is good,

As for you, you will not escape from him but are certain to be captured and handed over to him. You will meet the king of Babylon eye to eye and speak face to face; you will go to Babylon.“‘ Yet hear the LORD’s word, King Zedekiah of Judah. This is what the LORD says concerning you: You will not die by the sword;you will die peacefully. There will be a burning ceremony for you just like the burning ceremonies for your ancestors, the kings of old who came before you.“ Oh, master!” will be the lament for you, for I have spoken this word. This is the LORD’s declaration.’”

for the sexually immoral and males who have sex with males, for slave traders, liars, perjurers, and for whatever else is contrary to the sound teaching

“ I will come to you in judgment, and I will be ready to witness against sorcerers and adulterers; against those who swear falsely; against those who oppress the hired worker, the widow, and the fatherless; and against those who deny justice to the resident alien. They do not fear me,” says the LORD of Armies.

Even though it is planted, will it flourish? Won’t it wither completely when the east wind strikes it? It will wither on the plot where it sprouted.’”
