And your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, because the splendor I had given you made your beauty perfect, declares the Sovereign Lord.

You were so beautiful that your fame spread among the nations. The glory I had given you made your beauty perfect,” announces the Lord and King.

And your renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.

Your fame soon spread throughout the world because of your beauty. I dressed you in my splendor and perfected your beauty, says the Sovereign Lord.

Then your fame spread among the nations on account of your beauty, for it was perfect because of My splendor which I bestowed on you,” declares the Lord God.

Your fame went out among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through My splendor which I had bestowed on you,” says the Lord GOD.

And thy renown went forth among the nations for thy beauty; for it was perfect, through my majesty which I had put upon thee, saith the Lord Jehovah.

All who pass by scornfully clap their hands at you. They hiss and shake their heads at Daughter Jerusalem: Is this the city that was called the perfection of beauty, the joy of the whole earth?

The whole world wanted an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom that God had put in his heart.

For who makes you so superior? What do you have that you didn’t receive? If, in fact, you did receive it, why do you boast as if you hadn’t received it?

They went to Joshua in the camp at Gilgal and said to him and the men of Israel,“ We have come from a distant land. Please make a treaty with us.”The men of Israel replied to the Hivites,“ Perhaps you live among us. How can we make a treaty with you?”They said to Joshua,“ We are your servants.” Then Joshua asked them,“ Who are you and where do you come from?”They replied to him,“ Your servants have come from a faraway land because of the reputation of the LORD your God. For we have heard of his fame, and all that he did in Egypt,

and said to them,“ I know that the LORD has given you this land and that the terror of you has fallen on us, and everyone who lives in the land is panicking because of you.For we have heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to Sihon and Og, the two Amorite kings you completely destroyed across the Jordan.When we heard this, we lost heart, and everyone’s courage failed because of you, for the LORD your God is God in heaven above and on earth below.

“ Indeed, ask about the earlier days that preceded you, from the day God created mankind on the earth and from one end of the heavens to the other: Has anything like this great event ever happened, or has anything like it been heard of?Has a people heard God’s voice speaking from the fire as you have, and lived?Or has a god attempted to go and take a nation as his own out of another nation, by trials, signs, wonders, and war, by a strong hand and an outstretched arm, by great terrors, as the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?You were shown these things so that you would know that the LORD is God; there is no other besides him.He let you hear his voice from heaven to instruct you. He showed you his great fire on earth, and you heard his words from the fire.Because he loved your ancestors, he chose their descendants after them and brought you out of Egypt by his presence and great power,to drive out before you nations greater and stronger than you and to bring you in and give you their land as an inheritance, as is now taking place.

Carefully follow them, for this will show your wisdom and understanding in the eyes of the peoples. When they hear about all these statutes, they will say,‘ This great nation is indeed a wise and understanding people.’For what great nation is there that has a god near to it as the LORD our God is to us whenever we call to him?And what great nation has righteous statutes and ordinances like this entire law I set before you today?

Then King Hiram of Tyre wrote a letter and sent it to Solomon: Because the LORD loves his people, he set you over them as king.Hiram also said: Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who made the heavens and the earth! He gave King David a wise son with insight and understanding, who will build a temple for the LORD and a royal palace for himself.

All the kings of the world wanted an audience with Solomon to hear the wisdom God had put in his heart.

The queen of Sheba heard about Solomon’s fame connected with the name of the LORD and came to test him with difficult questions.She came to Jerusalem with a very large entourage, with camels bearing spices, gold in great abundance, and precious stones. She came to Solomon and spoke to him about everything that was on her mind.So Solomon answered all her questions; nothing was too difficult for the king to explain to her.When the queen of Sheba observed all of Solomon’s wisdom, the palace he had built,the food at his table, his servants’ residence, his attendants’ service and their attire, his cupbearers, and the burnt offerings he offered at the LORD’s temple, it took her breath away.She said to the king,“ The report I heard in my own country about your words and about your wisdom is true.But I didn’t believe the reports until I came and saw with my own eyes. Indeed, I was not even told half. Your wisdom and prosperity far exceed the report I heard.How happy are your men. How happy are these servants of yours, who always stand in your presence hearing your wisdom.Blessed be the LORD your God! He delighted in you and put you on the throne of Israel, because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel. He has made you king to carry out justice and righteousness.”Then she gave the king four and a half tons of gold, a great quantity of spices, and precious stones. Never again did such a quantity of spices arrive as those the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon.In addition, Hiram’s fleet that carried gold from Ophir brought from Ophir a large quantity of almug wood and precious stones.The king made the almug wood into steps for the LORD’s temple and the king’s palace and into lyres and harps for the singers. Never before did such almug wood arrive, and the like has not been seen again.King Solomon gave the queen of Sheba her every desire— whatever she asked— besides what he had given her out of his royal bounty. Then she, along with her servants, returned to her own country.
