Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

Israel, your prophets are like wild dogs that live among broken- down buildings.

Your prophets have been like jackals among ruins, O Israel.

“ O people of Israel, these prophets of yours are like jackals digging in the ruins.

Israel, your prophets have been like jackals among ruins.

O Israel, your prophets are like foxes in the deserts.

O Israel, thy prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.

Your prophets, Israel, are like jackals among ruins.

O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.

Your prophets have become like jackals among the ruins, O Israel.

Israel, your prophets have been like foxes in the waste places.

This is what the LORD says concerning the prophets who lead my people astray, who proclaim peace when they have food to sink their teeth into but declare war against the one who puts nothing in their mouths.

If a man comes and utters empty lies—“ I will preach to you about wine and beer”— he would be just the preacher for this people!

But the beast was taken prisoner, and along with it the false prophet, who had performed the signs in its presence. He deceived those who accepted the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image with these signs. Both of them were thrown alive into the lake of fire that burns with sulfur.

because such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own appetites. They deceive the hearts of the unsuspecting with smooth talk and flattering words.

For there are many rebellious people, full of empty talk and deception, especially those from the circumcision party.It is necessary to silence them; they are ruining entire households by teaching what they shouldn’t in order to get money dishonestly.One of their very own prophets said,“ Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.”

Then I saw another beast coming up out of the earth; it had two horns like a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon.It exercises all the authority of the first beast on its behalf and compels the earth and those who live on it to worship the first beast, whose fatal wound was healed.It also performs great signs, even causing fire to come down from heaven to earth in front of people.It deceives those who live on the earth because of the signs that it is permitted to perform in the presence of the beast, telling those who live on the earth to make an image of the beast who was wounded by the sword and yet lived.

For such people are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.And no wonder! For Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.So it is no great surprise if his servants also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will be according to their works.

Then we will no longer be little children, tossed by the waves and blown around by every wind of teaching, by human cunning with cleverness in the techniques of deceit.

“ Be on your guard against false prophets who come to you in sheep’s clothing but inwardly are ravaging wolves.

This matter arose because some false brothers had infiltrated our ranks to spy on the freedom we have in Christ Jesus in order to enslave us.

Now the Spirit explicitly says that in later times some will depart from the faith, paying attention to deceitful spirits and the teachings of demons,through the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.

The coming of the lawless one is based on Satan’s working, with every kind of miracle, both signs and wonders serving the lie,and with every wicked deception among those who are perishing. They perish because they did not accept the love of the truth and so be saved.

Catch the foxes for us— the little foxes that ruin the vineyards— for our vineyards are in bloom.
