I will scatter to the winds all those around him— his staff and all his troops— and I will pursue them with drawn sword.

城終於被攻破了，所有的戰士就在夜間從靠近王的花園的兩牆中間的那門，逃跑出城。那時迦勒底人在四圍攻城；他們就往亞拉巴的方向逃走。迦勒底人的軍隊追趕王，在耶利哥的原野上把他追上了；他的全軍都離開他四散了。

他軍中所有的精兵（按照《馬索拉文本》，“精兵”作“逃跑的人”；現參照其他抄本、《七十士譯本》和其他古譯本翻譯），都必倒在刀下；剩下的也必分散到四方；你們就知道說這話的是我耶和華。

如果我使刀劍臨到那地，說：‘願刀劍經過那地，好讓我把人和牲畜從那地剪除。’

主耶和華這樣說：“我打發刀劍、饑荒、猛獸和瘟疫這四樣可怕的刑罰臨到耶路撒冷，要把人和牲畜從那裡剪除的時候，那情況豈不更嚴重嗎？

現在你們要確實知道，在你們想去寄居的那地方，你們必因刀劍、饑荒和瘟疫而死。”

你們懼怕的刀劍必在埃及地追上你們；你們恐懼的饑荒必在埃及緊隨著你們；你們必死在那裡。

我要把你們分散在萬國中，我又拔出刀來追趕你們；你們的地成為荒涼，你們的城市變成荒場。

因此，在你中間，父親要吃兒子，兒子要吃父親。我要向你施行審判，把你餘剩的眾人分散到四方去。“我指著我的永生起誓（這是主耶和華的宣告），你既然用你一切可憎的偶像和一切可厭的事來玷污我的聖所，我必收回對你的恩寵，我的眼必不顧惜你，我也不憐恤你。你的人民三分之一必在你中間因瘟疫死亡，因饑荒消滅；三分之一必在你周圍因刀劍倒斃；三分之一，我要分散到四方去，我還要拔刀追趕他們。
