Then the Spirit of the Lord came upon me, and he told me to say,“ This is what the Lord says to the people of Israel: I know what you are saying, for I know every thought that comes into your minds.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and he told me to say:“ This is what the Lord says: That is what you are saying, you leaders in Israel, but I know what is going through your mind.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me. He told me to tell them,“ The Lord says,‘ You leaders in Israel, that is what you are saying. But I know what you are thinking.

And the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and he said to me,“ Say, Thus says the Lord: So you think, O house of Israel. For I know the things that come into your mind.

Then the Spirit of the LORD came on me, and he told me,“ You are to say,‘ This is what the LORD says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind.

Then the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and He said to me,“ Say,‘ This is what the Lord says:“ This is how you think, house of Israel, for I know your thoughts.

Then the Spirit of the Lord fell upon me, and said to me,“ Speak!‘ Thus says the Lord:“ Thus you have said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.

And the Spirit of Jehovah fell upon me, and he said unto me, Speak, Thus saith Jehovah: Thus have ye said, O house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.

Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and He told me,“ You are to say: This is what the Lord says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind.

And the Spirit of the LORD fell upon me, and said unto me, Speak; Thus saith the LORD; Thus have ye said, O house of Israel: for I know the things that come into your mind,[ every one of] them.

Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon me and said to me,“ Say: This is what the LORD says:‘ This is what you are thinking, O house of Israel; I know what goes through your minds.

Yahweh’s Spirit fell on me, and he said to me,“ Speak,‘ Yahweh says:“ Thus you have said, house of Israel; for I know the things that come into your mind.

But I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.”

The Spirit came into me as he spoke, and he set me on my feet. I listened carefully to his words.

“ And Solomon, my son, learn to know the God of your ancestors intimately. Worship and serve him with your whole heart and a willing mind. For the Lord sees every heart and knows every plan and thought. If you seek him, you will find him. But if you forsake him, he will reject you forever.

“ Son of man, give the prince of Tyre this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ In your great pride you claim,‘ I am a god! I sit on a divine throne in the heart of the sea.’ But you are only a man and not a god, though you boast that you are a god.

Give them this message from the Sovereign Lord:“ I am your enemy, O Pharaoh, king of Egypt— you great monster, lurking in the streams of the Nile. For you have said,‘ The Nile River is mine; I made it for myself.’

They are a stubborn and hard hearted people. But I am sending you to say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’And whether they listen or refuse to listen— for remember, they are rebels— at least they will know they have had a prophet among them.

Then the Spirit came into me and set me on my feet. He spoke to me and said,“ Go to your house and shut yourself in.

“ Shout with the voice of a trumpet blast. Shout aloud! Don’t be timid. Tell my people Israel of their sins!

While you did all this, I remained silent, and you thought I didn’t care. But now I will rebuke you, listing all my charges against you.

At that time the Spirit of the Lord will come powerfully upon you, and you will prophesy with them. You will be changed into a different person.

You know when I sit down or stand up. You know my thoughts even when I’m far away.You see me when I travel and when I rest at home. You know everything I do.

You must give them my messages whether they listen or not. But they won’t listen, for they are completely rebellious!

I am watching them closely, and I see every sin. They cannot hope to hide from me.

Nothing in all creation is hidden from God. Everything is naked and exposed before his eyes, and he is the one to whom we are accountable.

“ This is what the Sovereign Lord says: At that time evil thoughts will come to your mind, and you will devise a wicked scheme.You will say,‘ Israel is an unprotected land filled with unwalled villages! I will march against her and destroy these people who live in such confidence!

Then on September 17, during the sixth year of King Jehoiachin’s captivity, while the leaders of Judah were in my home, the Sovereign Lord took hold of me.

End the evil of those who are wicked, and defend the righteous. For you look deep within the mind and heart, O righteous God.

I will strike her children dead. Then all the churches will know that I am the one who searches out the thoughts and intentions of every person. And I will give to each of you whatever you deserve.

Then go to your people in exile and say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ Do this whether they listen to you or not.”

You boast,“ We have struck a bargain to cheat death and have made a deal to dodge the grave. The coming destruction can never touch us, for we have built a strong refuge made of lies and deception.”

When Saul and his servant arrived at Gibeah, they saw a group of prophets coming toward them. Then the Spirit of God came powerfully upon Saul, and he, too, began to prophesy.

But when I give you a message, I will loosen your tongue and let you speak. Then you will say to them,‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says!’ Those who choose to listen will listen, but those who refuse will refuse, for they are rebels.

And the Lord came down in the cloud and spoke to Moses. Then he gave the seventy elders the same Spirit that was upon Moses. And when the Spirit rested upon them, they prophesied. But this never happened again.Two men, Eldad and Medad, had stayed behind in the camp. They were listed among the elders, but they had not gone out to the Tabernacle. Yet the Spirit rested upon them as well, so they prophesied there in the camp.

Jesus knew immediately what they were thinking, so he asked them,“ Why do you question this in your hearts?

“ As I began to speak,” Peter continued,“ the Holy Spirit fell on them, just as he fell on us at the beginning.

But the teachers of religious law who had arrived from Jerusalem said,“ He’s possessed by Satan, the prince of demons. That’s where he gets the power to cast out demons.”Jesus called them over and responded with an illustration.“ How can Satan cast out Satan?” he asked.“ A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse.Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart.And if Satan is divided and fights against himself, how can he stand? He would never survive.Let me illustrate this further. Who is powerful enough to enter the house of a strong man and plunder his goods? Only someone even stronger— someone who could tie him up and then plunder his house.“ I tell you the truth, all sin and blasphemy can be forgiven,but anyone who blasphemes the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven. This is a sin with eternal consequences.”He told them this because they were saying,“ He’s possessed by an evil spirit.”

“ You have said terrible things about me,” says the Lord.“ But you say,‘ What do you mean? What have we said against you?’“ You have said,‘ What’s the use of serving God? What have we gained by obeying his commands or by trying to show the Lord of Heaven’s Armies that we are sorry for our sins?

A third time he asked him,“ Simon son of John, do you love me?” Peter was hurt that Jesus asked the question a third time. He said,“ Lord, you know everything. You know that I love you.” Jesus said,“ Then feed my sheep.

But Jesus didn’t trust them, because he knew all about people.No one needed to tell him about human nature, for he knew what was in each person’s heart.

And among all the parts of the body, the tongue is a flame of fire. It is a whole world of wickedness, corrupting your entire body. It can set your whole life on fire, for it is set on fire by hell itself.

Even as Peter was saying these things, the Holy Spirit fell upon all who were listening to the message.
