亚伦的儿子以利亚撒也死了，就把他葬在他儿子非尼哈所得以法莲山地的小山上。

祭司亚伦的孙子，以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈看见了，就从会中起来，手里拿着枪，跟随那以色列人进亭子里去，便将以色列人和那女人由腹中刺透。这样，在以色列人中瘟疫就止息了。那时遭瘟疫死的，有二万四千人。耶和华晓谕摩西说：“祭司亚伦的孙子，以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，使我向以色列人所发的怒消了；因他在他们中间，以我的忌邪为心，使我不在忌邪中把他们除灭。因此，你要说：‘我将我平安的约赐给他。这约要给他和他的后裔，作为永远当祭司职任的约；因他为神有忌邪的心，为以色列人赎罪。’”

以色列人打发祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈，往基列地去见流便人、迦得人、玛拿西半支派的人；

祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈对流便人、迦得人、玛拿西人说：“今日我们知道耶和华在我们中间，因为你们没有向他犯了这罪。现在你们救以色列人脱离耶和华的手了。”祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈与众首领离了流便人、迦得人，从基列地回往迦南地，到了以色列人那里，便将这事回报他们。

那时，非尼哈站起，刑罚恶人，瘟疫这才止息。那就算为他的义，世世代代，直到永远。

摩西就打发每支派的一千人去打仗，并打发祭司以利亚撒的儿子非尼哈同去；非尼哈手里拿着圣所的器皿和吹大声的号筒。
