「你們離開這會眾，我好立刻把他們滅絕。」他們二人就臉伏於地。摩西對亞倫說：「拿你的香爐，把祭壇的火盛在裏面，加上香，趕快帶到會眾那裏，為他們贖罪。因為有憤怒從耶和華面前發出，瘟疫已經開始了。」亞倫照摩西所說的拿了香爐，跑到會眾中。看哪，瘟疫已經在百姓中開始了。他就加上香，為百姓贖罪。他站在活人和死人之間，瘟疫就止住了。

我很害怕，因為耶和華向你們大發烈怒，要除滅你們。但那一次耶和華又應允了我。

並要發烈怒，用刀殺你們，使你們的妻子成為寡婦，兒女成為孤兒。

所以，你們要彼此認罪，互相代求，使你們得醫治。義人祈禱所發的力量是大有功效的。

摩西就懇求耶和華－他的上帝，說：「耶和華啊，你為甚麼向你的百姓發烈怒呢？這百姓是你用大能大力的手從埃及地領出來的！

求你照你的大慈愛赦免這百姓的罪孽，好像你從埃及到如今饒恕這百姓一樣。」耶和華說：「我照着你的話赦免他們。

那人說：「天快亮了，讓我走吧！」雅各說：「你不給我祝福，我就不讓你走。」那人說：「你叫甚麼名字？」他說：「雅各。」那人說：「你的名字不要再叫雅各，要叫以色列，因為你與上帝和人較力，都得勝了。」

耶和華又對我說：「不要為這百姓求福。

亞伯拉罕說：「求主不要生氣，我再說一次，假若在那裏找到十個呢？」他說：「為這十個的緣故，我也不毀滅。」耶和華與亞伯拉罕說完了話就走了；亞伯拉罕也回到自己的地方去了。

摩西走近營前，看見牛犢，又看見人在跳舞，就發烈怒，把兩塊版從手中扔到山下摔碎了。

摩西、亞倫臉伏於地，說：「上帝，賜萬人氣息的上帝啊，一人犯罪，你就要向全會眾發怒嗎？」

耶和華對我說：「雖有摩西和撒母耳站在我面前，我的心也不顧惜這百姓。你把他們從我眼前趕出，叫他們出去吧！
