我要用瘟疫毁灭他们，不让他们承受那片土地。但我要使你成为大国，比他们更强盛。”

“你们离开这些会众，我好在顷刻之间消灭他们。”他们二人就俯伏在地。摩西对亚伦说：“取香炉来，里面放些坛上的火，添上香，赶快带到会众那里为他们赎罪，因为耶和华发怒了，瘟疫已经开始。”亚伦就照着摩西的吩咐取来香炉，跑到会众当中。那时瘟疫已经在人群中蔓延起来。他就在炉中放上香为民众赎罪。他站在活人和死人中间，瘟疫就止住了。

耶和华向你们发烈怒，要毁灭你们，我非常惧怕。但耶和华再次垂听了我的祈求。

向你们发怒，用刀杀掉你们，使你们的妻子变为寡妇，儿女成为孤儿。

所以你们要彼此认罪，互相代祷，好得到医治。义人的祷告有极大的力量和功效。

摩西恳求他的上帝耶和华说：“耶和华啊，你为什么要向你的子民发烈怒呢？这些子民是你亲自用神迹和大能从埃及领出来的。

从他们离开埃及直到现在，你一直在饶恕他们，求你以伟大的慈爱再次赦免这些人的罪。”耶和华说：“我听你的祈求，赦免他们。

那人说：“天亮了，让我走吧！”但雅各说：“你不祝福我，我就不让你走。”那人问道：“你叫什么名字？”他说：“我叫雅各。”那人说：“你以后不要再叫雅各了，你要叫以色列，因为你跟上帝和人角力都得胜了。”

耶和华对我说：“你不要为这百姓祷告。

亚伯拉罕又说：“求主不要发怒，让我问最后一次，倘若在那里只找到十个义人呢？”耶和华说：“为了那十个人的缘故，我也不会毁灭那城。”耶和华跟亚伯拉罕说完话便离开了，亚伯拉罕也回家去了。

摩西走近营地的时候，看见牛犊，又看见百姓在跳舞，心中大怒，便把手上的两块石版摔碎在山脚下，

摩西和亚伦就伏在地上说：“上帝啊，赐人生命的上帝啊！一人犯罪，你就要向全体会众发怒吗？”

耶和华对我说：“就算摩西和撒母耳站在我面前求情，我也不会怜悯这些百姓。你把他们从我面前赶走吧！
