『六日要勞碌，但第七日你就要休息；在耕種收割的時候、也要休息。

『但你們若留心聽從我——永恆主發神諭說——不在安息之日挑甚麼擔子進入這城的門，只以安息之日為聖日，在那日不作甚麼工，那麼就必有坐大衛寶座的列王，他們和他們的首領、猶大人和耶路撒冷的居民、或坐車、或騎馬、進入這城的門，那麼這城就永遠有人居住了。必有人從猶大的城市和耶路撒冷四圍的地方、從便雅憫地、從低原、山地、南地、而來，帶着燔祭、平安祭、素祭、乳香和感謝祭，進永恆主的殿。但你們若不聽從我，不以安息之日為聖日，仍在安息之日挑擔子，進耶路撒冷的城門，那麼我就必在它的城門中點起火來；這火必燒燬耶路撒冷的宮堡，總不熄滅。」』

然後回去，豫備香料香膏。安息日便遵照誡命靜歇着。

六日要作工，但第七日你們卻要守為聖日，做歸永恆主完全歇工的安息日；凡在這日作工的、必須被處死。

『要記得安息日，分別為聖。六日要勞碌，作你一切的工。但第七日是屬永恆主你的上帝的安息日；這一日、你跟你兒子和女兒、你奴僕和使女、你的牲口、以及你城內的寄居者，一切的工都不可作。因為六日之內、永恆主造天、地、海、和其中的萬物，第七日便歇息；所以永恆主賜福與安息之日，分別為聖。

這樣看來，就有一個安息日式的安息為上帝的子民保留着了。

這是我和以色列人之間永遠的憑證，因為六日之內永恆主造了天地，第七日便休息而舒暢舒暢。」』

你們要守安息日，因為這是給予你們的聖日；凡瀆犯這日的、必須被處死；凡在這日作工的、那人必須從他的族人中被剪除。

以色列人在曠野時遇見一個人在安息日撿柴。那些遇見撿柴人的、就把他帶到摩西、亞倫和全會眾那裏。他們把那人安置在看守所裏，因為須要怎樣辦他、還未明示出來。於是永恆主告訴摩西說：『那人必須被處死；全會眾要在營外扔石頭把他砍死。』全會眾就把那人拉出營外，扔石頭砍他、砍到死去，照永恆主所吩咐摩西的。

『主永恆主這麼說：內院朝東的門在辦理事務的六日之內必須關閉着，但在安息日上卻要打開，每月一日也要打開。

會堂管事因惱怒耶穌在安息日治病，就公然對羣眾說：『有六天應當作工；故此六天之內儘可以來治病，可不要在安息之日啊。』

六天你們都可以撿；但第七天是安息日，那一天必然沒有的。』

你們要守完全歇工的安息，要刻苦自己；在這月初九日晚上、從當天晚上到次日晚上、你們要守你們的安息日。』
