In six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there must be a holy day for you, a Sabbath of complete rest to the LORD. Anyone who does work on it will be put to death.You must not kindle a fire in any of your homes on the Sabbath day.”

Numbers 15:32-36
When the Israelites were in the wilderness they found a man gathering wood on the Sabbath day.Those who found him gathering wood brought him to Moses and Aaron and to the whole community.They put him in custody, because there was no clear instruction about what should be done to him.Then the LORD said to Moses,“ The man must surely be put to death; the whole community must stone him with stones outside the camp.”So the whole community took him outside the camp and stoned him to death, just as the LORD commanded Moses.

Ezekiel 20:12-13
I also gave them my Sabbaths as a reminder of our relationship, so that they would know that I, the LORD, sanctify them.But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness; they did not follow my statutes and they rejected my regulations( the one who obeys them will live by them), and they utterly desecrated my Sabbaths. So I decided to pour out my rage on them in the wilderness and destroy them.

Deuteronomy 5:12-15
Be careful to observe the Sabbath day just as the LORD your God has commanded you.You are to work and do all your tasks in six days,but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the LORD your God. On that day you must not do any work, you, your son, your daughter, your male slave, your female slave, your ox, your donkey, any other animal, or the foreigner who lives with you, so that your male and female slaves, like yourself, may have rest.Recall that you were slaves in the land of Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there by strength and power. That is why the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.
