Moses then took the blood, sprinkled it on the people and said,“ This is the blood of the covenant that the Lord has made with you in accordance with all these words.”

因為公牛和山羊的血不能把罪除去。所以，基督到世上來的時候，就說：“祭品和禮物不是你所要的，你卻為我預備了身體。

摩西取了一半的血，盛在盆中；又取了另一半的血，灑在祭壇上。

我必用潔淨的水灑在你們身上，你們就潔淨了；我必潔淨你們的一切污穢，使你們遠離所有可憎的像。

飯後，照樣拿起杯來，說：“這杯是用我的血所立的新約，你們每逢喝的時候，應當這樣行，為的是記念我。”

這是我的血，是為立約的，為許多人流出來，使罪得赦。

願賜平安的神，就是那憑著永約的血，把群羊的大牧人我們的主耶穌，從死人中領出來的那一位，

耶穌說：“這是我的血，是為立約的，為許多人流出來的。

就是照著父神的預知蒙揀選，藉著聖靈得成聖潔，因而順服，並且被耶穌基督的血灑過的人。願恩惠平安多多地加給你們。

飯後，他照樣拿起杯來，說：“這杯是用我的血所立的新約，這血是為你們流的。

錫安哪！至於你，因著我與你立約的血，我把你中間被囚禁的人從無水的坑裡釋放出來。

照樣，他也必使多國的人驚異（按照《馬索拉文本》，“他也必使多國的人驚異”作“他必灑許多國的民”；現參照《七十士譯本》翻譯），君王要因他閉口不言，因為從未向他們述說過的事，他們必看見；他們從未聽過的，他們要明白。

摩西拿了一些膏油和祭壇上的血，彈在亞倫和他的衣服上，以及他兒子和他們的衣服上；這樣就使亞倫和他的衣服，他的兒子和他們的衣服都分別為聖。

我們在他愛子裡，藉著他的血蒙了救贖，過犯得到赦免，都是按著他豐盛的恩典。

因此，前約並不是沒有用血立的：當日摩西按照律法，向所有人民宣布了各樣的誡命，就拿牛犢（好些抄本在此有“和山羊”）的血和水，用朱紅色的羊毛與牛膝草，灑在律法書上和人民身上，說：“這就是神規定你們立約的血。”他照樣把血灑在會幕和各樣應用的器皿上。
