约书亚把他们从约旦河取来的那十二块石头立在吉甲，

那些被认为是教会柱石的雅各、矶法、约翰知道上帝所赐给我的恩典，就跟我和巴拿巴握右手以示合作，同意我们往外邦人那里去，他们往受割礼的人那里去。

你要为我筑一座土坛，在上面献牛羊为燔祭和平安祭。凡在我叫你记念我名的地方，我必到那里赐福给你。你若为我筑一座石坛，不可用凿过的石头，因为你在石头上动了工具，就使坛污秽了。你不可用台阶上我的坛，免得露出你的下体来。’”

以色列人就照约书亚所吩咐的做了。他们按以色列人支派的数目，从约旦河中取了十二块石头，正如耶和华所吩咐约书亚的。他们把石头带过去，到他们所住宿的地方，就放在那里。约书亚另外把十二块石头立在约旦河的中间，在抬约柜祭司的脚站立的地方；直到今日，石头还在那里。

城墙有十二个根基，根基上有羔羊十二使徒的名字。

这些宝石要有以色列十二个儿子的名字，如同刻印章，每一颗有自己的名字，代表十二个支派。
