For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that[ were] on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust[ of them], and strowed[ it] upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.And[ so did he] in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

Yet hast thou not walked after their ways, nor done after their abominations: but, as[ if that were] a very little[ thing], thou wast corrupted more than they in all thy ways.

The graven images of their gods shall ye burn with fire: thou shalt not desire the silver or gold[ that is] on them, nor take[ it] unto thee, lest thou be snared therein: for it[ is] an abomination to the LORD thy God.Neither shalt thou bring an abomination into thine house, lest thou be a cursed thing like it:[ but] thou shalt utterly detest it, and thou shalt utterly abhor it; for it[ is] a cursed thing.

I will set no wicked thing before mine eyes: I hate the work of them that turn aside;[ it] shall not cleave to me.

And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt[ it] in the fire, and ground[ it] to powder, and strawed[ it] upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink[ of it].

But ye shall destroy their altars, break their images, and cut down their groves:For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name[ is] Jealous,[ is] a jealous God:

But did[ that which was] evil in the sight of the LORD, like unto the abominations of the heathen, whom the LORD had cast out before the children of Israel.

But were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works.And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them.Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils,And shed innocent blood,[ even] the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood.
