我們成了孤兒，沒有父親；我們的母親簡直像寡婦。

他們的寡婦在我面前比海沙更多；我使滅命者中午來到，攻擊壯丁的母親，使驚愕之激動與驚惶突然臨到她身上。

求你將你的盛怒倒在他們身上，叫你的猛烈怒氣趕上他們。

誰曉得你怒氣之權勢，誰看明你震怒之威力呢？

故此願你將他們的兒女交於饑荒，將他們交付於刀劍手下；願他們的妻喪失兒子，並做寡婦；願他們的男人被疫癘殺死，他們的壯丁在戰陣上被刀劍擊殺。

在他的盛怒前、誰能站得住呢？他怒氣之猛烈、誰能當得起呢？他的烈怒像火傾瀉而出，碞石因他而崩裂。

然而你竟依順你的剛愎和不悔改的心、為自己積聚着上帝的義怒、於上帝義怒的日子，就是上帝公義的刑罰顯示出來的日子；那時他必照各人的行為報應各人：對依行善之堅忍去尋求榮耀尊貴和不朽的人呢、是永生；對於營私爭勝、硬不順服真理、反而順服不義的人呢、是上帝公義的震怒。又有苦難困迫、加給一切厲行惡事的血氣人，先猶太人，而後希利尼人；

他們的青年人被火吞滅；他們的處女也沒有喜歌。他們的祭司倒斃於刀劍之下，他們的寡婦並不哀哭。

要給予，就必有給予你們的，必用好的量器，連搖帶按、上尖下流地倒在你們衣兜裏給你們。因為你們用甚麼量器來量、也必有用甚麼量器量給你們的。』

惟獨你可畏懼；誰能在你面前站得住你的怒氣呢？

掉在永活的上帝手裏、真是可怕呀！

因為上帝降的災難使我恐懼，他的尊嚴我當不起。

『惡人在上帝那裏所有的分兒、強橫人從全能者所得的產業乃是以下這樣：就使他的子孫增多，還是必被刀殺；他出的後裔必不得喫飽飯。他殘存的人必遭疫癘、而不得埋葬，他的寡婦也不哀哭。
