The people remained at a distance, while Moses approached the thick darkness where God was.

Then Solomon said,“ The LORD has said that he lives in thick darkness.

He made the sky sink as he descended; a thick cloud was under his feet.

Dark clouds surround him; equity and justice are the foundation of his throne.

He covers himself with light as if it were a garment. He stretches out the skies like a tent curtain,

Then Solomon said,“ The LORD has said that he lives in thick darkness.

He alone possesses immortality and lives in unapproachable light, whom no human has ever seen or is able to see. To him be honor and eternal power! Amen.

On the third day in the morning there was thunder and lightning and a dense cloud on the mountain, and the sound of a very loud horn; all the people who were in the camp trembled.Moses brought the people out of the camp to meet God, and they took their place at the foot of the mountain.

The LORD said these things to your entire assembly at the mountain from the middle of the fire, the cloud, and the darkness with a loud voice, and that was all he said. Then he inscribed the words on two stone tablets and gave them to me.

From the brightness in front of him came hail and fiery coals.

( I was standing between the LORD and you at that time to reveal to you the message of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and would not go up the mountain.) He said:
