這王狡猾地對待我們的同胞，虐待我們的祖先，強迫他們丟棄自己的嬰孩，好使嬰孩活不下去。

「你當為自己造一艘松柏木的方舟，要給方舟造艙房，方舟裡外都要塗上瀝青。

那些博士離開以後，忽然主的一位天使在約瑟夢中顯現，說：「起來，帶著孩子和他的母親逃往埃及，留在那裡，直到我再指示你，因為希律要搜尋這孩子並殺害他。」

他們彼此說：「來吧！讓我們做磚，用火燒透。」於是他們就用磚代替石頭，用瀝青代替灰泥。

希律發現自己受了博士們的愚弄，就十分惱怒。於是，他按照從博士們那裡所詢問到的時間，派人把伯利恆城裡和周圍各個地區內兩歲以下的男孩，全都殺了。

這地派遣信使經由海路，從水面上乘蒲草船而來。去吧，迅捷的使者們哪！到身材高大、皮膚光滑的那族，到遠近之人所懼怕的那民，到極其強大、四處踐踏、江河縱橫其地的那族去！

河道必發臭，埃及的河流必消減而乾涸；蘆葦和蘆荻必凋萎，

西訂谷有許多瀝青坑；所多瑪王和格摩拉王逃跑時，掉進坑裡，其餘的人都往山裡逃跑。
