Zipporah gave birth to a son, and Moses named him Gershom, saying,“ I have become a foreigner in a foreign land.”

Zipporah had a son by him. Moses named him Gershom. That’s because Moses said,“ I’m an outsider in a strange land.”

She gave birth to a son, and he called his name Gershom, for he said,“ I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.”

She gave birth to a son whom he named Gershom, for he said,“ I have been a resident alien in a foreign land.”

Then she gave birth to a son, and he named him Gershom, for he said,“ I have been a stranger in a foreign land.”

And she bore him a son. He called his name Gershom, for he said,“ I have been a stranger in a foreign land.”

And she bare a son, and he called his name Gershom; for he said, I have been a sojourner in a foreign land.

When she bore a son, Moses named him Gershom, for he said,“ I have become a resident foreigner in a foreign land.”

When Moses heard that, he fled the country and lived as a foreigner in the land of Midian. There his two sons were born.

All these people died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth.Obviously people who say such things are looking forward to a country they can call their own.

“ You must not mistreat or oppress foreigners in any way. Remember, you yourselves were once foreigners in the land of Egypt.

( Moses’ first son was named Gershom, for Moses had said when the boy was born,“ I have been a foreigner in a foreign land.”His second son was named Eliezer, for Moses had said,“ The God of my ancestors was my helper; he rescued me from the sword of Pharaoh.”)

Later, when the boy was older, his mother brought him back to Pharaoh’s daughter, who adopted him as her own son. The princess named him Moses, for she explained,“ I lifted him out of the water.”

Hear my prayer, O Lord! Listen to my cries for help! Don’t ignore my tears. For I am your guest— a traveler passing through, as my ancestors were before me.

They wandered from nation to nation, from one kingdom to another.

As for Moses, the man of God, his sons were included with the tribe of Levi.The sons of Moses were Gershom and Eliezer.The descendants of Gershom included Shebuel, the family leader.Eliezer had only one son, Rehabiah, the family leader. Rehabiah had numerous descendants.

We are here for only a moment, visitors and strangers in the land as our ancestors were before us. Our days on earth are like a passing shadow, gone so soon without a trace.

I am only a foreigner in the land. Don’t hide your commands from me!
