摩西聽了這話，就逃到米甸寄居，在那裡成家，生了兩個兒子。

黃昏，婦女們出來打水的時候，他讓駱駝跪在城外的井旁，

看見田間有一口井，有三群羊臥在井邊，因為當地人用那口井的水飲羊。井口蓋著一塊大石頭。

他憑信心離開埃及，不怕王的憤怒。他堅忍不拔，好像看見了肉眼不能看見的主。

雅各井就在那個地方。耶穌走路疲乏，坐在井旁休息。那時是中午時分，

如果你們在一個地方遭迫害，就避到另一個地方。我實在告訴你們，沒等你們走遍以色列的城鎮，人子就來了。

明哲人遇禍躲避，愚昧人前往受害。

亞哈把以利亞做的一切事以及他怎樣殺掉所有巴力先知的經過，都告訴了耶洗別，耶洗別就派人去告訴以利亞，說：「明天這個時候，我若不使你像那些人一樣喪命，願神明重重地懲罰我。」以利亞很害怕，連忙逃命，來到猶大的別示巴。他讓僕人留在那裡，

以利亞聽見後，就用外袍蒙著臉出去站在洞口。那聲音問他：「以利亞，你在這裡做什麽？」以利亞回答說：「我一向熱心事奉萬軍之上帝耶和華。但以色列人背棄你的約，拆毀你的祭壇，殘殺你的先知。現在只剩下我一個人，他們還要殺我。」

約雅敬王和他的王公大臣聽見烏利亞的話，就想處死他。烏利亞得知後，嚇得逃到埃及去了。約雅敬王便派亞革波的兒子以利拿單率隨從去埃及捉拿他。他們把烏利亞從埃及押到約雅敬王面前，王用刀殺了他，把屍首拋在平民的墳地中。

基土拉為亞伯拉罕生了心蘭、約珊、米但、米甸、伊施巴和書亞。

以掃看見父親給雅各祝福，讓他到巴旦·亞蘭娶妻，叮囑他不要娶迦南的女子，又看見雅各聽從父母到巴旦·亞蘭去了，

米甸的兒子是以法、以弗、哈諾、亞比大和以勒大。這些都是基土拉的子孫。

耶和華在米甸對摩西說：「你只管放心回埃及去，想害你性命的人都已經死了。」
