他又吩咐以色列的青年去給耶和華獻燔祭，又獻上公牛作平安祭。

有許多以法蓮人、瑪拿西人、以薩迦人和西布倫人沒有潔淨自己就吃了逾越節的羊羔，違背了律法的規定。希西迦就為他們禱告說：「凡誠心尋求他祖先的上帝耶和華的人，雖然沒有照聖所的律例潔淨自己，願良善的耶和華赦免他！」

亞倫的兒子拿答和亞比戶各拿自己的香爐，點火加香，在耶和華面前獻上凡火。他們這樣做不合耶和華的吩咐。於是，有火從耶和華面前出來吞噬了他們，他們就死在耶和華面前。摩西告訴亞倫：「耶和華曾說過，『我要在事奉我的人中顯明我的聖潔，在所有子民面前彰顯我的榮耀。』」亞倫默默無言。

他們走到拿肯的麥場時，拉車的牛失蹄，烏撒便伸手去扶上帝的約櫃。耶和華上帝就向烏撒發怒，因他的不敬而擊殺了他。他死在了約櫃旁邊。大衛因耶和華擊殺烏撒而煩惱，就稱那地方為毗列斯·烏撒，沿用至今。

現在，倘若你們認真聽從我的話，遵守我的約，就必在萬民中做我的子民，因為普天下都是我的。

於是，摩西下山回到百姓那裡，吩咐他們各人潔淨自己，洗淨衣服。又吩咐他們說：「到後天一切都要準備好，這期間你們不可親近女人。」

先前你們沒有抬約櫃，我們也沒有按規矩求問我們的上帝耶和華，以致祂向我們發怒。」

亞拿尼亞聽見這話，當場倒地而死。聽見這件事的人都非常懼怕。

他們不能在一月守節期，因為潔淨自己的祭司不夠多，民眾也沒有聚集在耶路撒冷。

正因如此，你們當中有許多人身體軟弱，疾病纏身，死亡的也不少。如果我們先自我省察，就不會遭受審判了。主審判我們，是對我們的管教，免得我們和世人一同被定罪。

離開吧，離開吧，離開巴比倫吧！不要碰不潔淨的東西。你們抬耶和華器具的人啊，要從那裡出來，要潔淨自己。

二月十四日，他們宰了逾越節的羊羔。祭司和利未人覺得慚愧，就潔淨自己，把燔祭帶到耶和華的殿裡，

撒非喇立刻倒在彼得腳前死了。那些青年進來看見她已經死了，便把她抬出去葬在她丈夫的旁邊。
