他又吩咐以色列的青年去给耶和华献燔祭，又献上公牛作平安祭。

有许多以法莲人、玛拿西人、以萨迦人和西布伦人没有洁净自己就吃了逾越节的羊羔，违背了律法的规定。希西迦就为他们祷告说：“凡诚心寻求他祖先的上帝耶和华的人，虽然没有照圣所的律例洁净自己，愿良善的耶和华赦免他！”

亚伦的儿子拿答和亚比户各拿自己的香炉，点火加香，在耶和华面前献上凡火。他们这样做不合耶和华的吩咐。于是，有火从耶和华面前出来吞噬了他们，他们就死在耶和华面前。摩西告诉亚伦：“耶和华曾说过，‘我要在事奉我的人中显明我的圣洁，在所有子民面前彰显我的荣耀。’”亚伦默默无言。

他们走到拿肯的麦场时，拉车的牛失蹄，乌撒便伸手去扶上帝的约柜。耶和华上帝就向乌撒发怒，因他的不敬而击杀了他。他死在了约柜旁边。大卫因耶和华击杀乌撒而烦恼，就称那地方为毗列斯·乌撒，沿用至今。

现在，倘若你们认真听从我的话，遵守我的约，就必在万民中做我的子民，因为普天下都是我的。

于是，摩西下山回到百姓那里，吩咐他们各人洁净自己，洗净衣服。又吩咐他们说：“到后天一切都要准备好，这期间你们不可亲近女人。”

先前你们没有抬约柜，我们也没有按规矩求问我们的上帝耶和华，以致祂向我们发怒。”

亚拿尼亚听见这话，当场倒地而死。听见这件事的人都非常惧怕。

他们不能在一月守节期，因为洁净自己的祭司不够多，民众也没有聚集在耶路撒冷。

正因如此，你们当中有许多人身体软弱，疾病缠身，死亡的也不少。如果我们先自我省察，就不会遭受审判了。主审判我们，是对我们的管教，免得我们和世人一同被定罪。

离开吧，离开吧，离开巴比伦吧！不要碰不洁净的东西。你们抬耶和华器具的人啊，要从那里出来，要洁净自己。

二月十四日，他们宰了逾越节的羊羔。祭司和利未人觉得惭愧，就洁净自己，把燔祭带到耶和华的殿里，

撒非喇立刻倒在彼得脚前死了。那些青年进来看见她已经死了，便把她抬出去葬在她丈夫的旁边。
