耶和华对摩西说：“你下去嘱咐百姓不可闯过界线到我这里观看，以免很多人死亡。

主諭摩西曰、爾下戒民、毋越界近我前以窺、恐其有多人死亡、

那一天，耶和华击杀了七十个伯·示麦人，因为他们擅自观看约柜里面。民众为此哀恸不已，

上帝说：“别再靠近，脱下你脚上的鞋子，因为你所站的地方是圣地。”

但你不能看我的脸，因为凡看见的，都不能存活。

此外，你要在山的四围划定界线，吩咐百姓不得上山或碰到界线，违例者死。你们不可用手触摸违例者，要用石头打死他或用箭射死他，牲畜也不例外。百姓要一直等到听见角声长鸣才可上山。”

你进入上帝的殿时要小心谨慎，近前倾听胜过愚人献祭，因为他们不知道自己是在作恶。

摩西想：“我要过去看这个奇异的景象，荆棘为什么没有被烧掉呢？”

那么，既然我们承受的是一个不能被震动的国度，就要感恩，用虔诚和敬畏的心事奉上帝，讨祂喜悦。因为我们的上帝是烈火。
