耶和華對摩西說：“你下去警告人民，不可闖過來，到我這裡觀看，免得他們中間有很多人滅亡。

and the Lord said to him,“ Go down and warn the people so they do not force their way through to see the Lord and many of them perish.

耶和華因為伯．示麥人偷窺他的約櫃，就擊殺他們；他擊殺了七十人（“七十人”大多數文本都作“五萬零七十人”，少數文本作“七十人”）。眾人因為耶和華用大災擊殺他們，就哀哭起來。

耶和華說：“不可過到這裡來；要把你腳上的鞋脫掉，因為你所站的地方是聖地。”

他又說：“你不能看我的臉，因為沒有人看見了我還能活著。”

你要在山的周圍給人民定界限，說：‘你們要謹慎，不可上山來，也不可觸摸山腳；凡是觸摸著那山的，必要把他處死。不可用手觸摸他，必須用石頭把他打死，或用箭射透；無論是牲畜，是人，都不得生存。’當號角聲拖長的時候，你們才可以上到山上來。”

你到神的殿，腳步要謹慎；近前聆聽，勝於愚昧人獻祭，因為他們不知道所作的是惡的。（本節在《馬索拉文本》為4:17）

摩西說：“我要到那邊去，看看這大異象，這荊棘為甚麼燒不掉？”

因此，我們既然領受了不能震動的國，就應該感恩，照著神所喜悅的，用虔誠敬畏的心事奉他；因為我們的神是烈火。
