Now Jethro, the priest of Midian and father-in-law of Moses, heard of everything God had done for Moses and for his people Israel, and how the Lord had brought Israel out of Egypt.

Now a priest of Midian had seven daughters, and they came and began to draw water and fill the troughs in order to water their father’s flock.

Now Moses was shepherding the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to the far side of the desert and came to the mountain of God, to Horeb.

You are the God who does amazing things; you have revealed your strength among the nations.You delivered your people by your strength– the children of Jacob and Joseph.( Selah)

Who can adequately recount the LORD’s mighty acts, or relate all his praiseworthy deeds?

This same Moses they had rejected, saying,‘ Who made you a ruler and judge?’ God sent as both ruler and deliverer through the hand of the angel who appeared to him in the bush.This man led them out, performing wonders and miraculous signs in the land of Egypt, at the Red Sea, and in the wilderness for forty years.

When he led his people out, they rejoiced; his chosen ones shouted with joy.

His people remembered the ancient times. Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherd of his flock? Where is the one who placed his holy Spirit among them,the one who made his majestic power available to Moses, who divided the water before them, gaining for himself a lasting reputation,who led them through the deep water? Like a horse running on flat land they did not stumble.

He sent his anger in full force; he did not spare them from death; he handed their lives over to destruction.He struck down all the firstborn in Egypt, the firstfruits of their reproductive power in the tents of Ham.Yet he brought out his people like sheep; he led them through the wilderness like a flock.He guided them safely along, while the sea covered their enemies.

O God, we have clearly heard; our ancestors have told us what you did in their days, in ancient times.

For we heard how the LORD dried up the water of the Red Sea before you when you left Egypt and how you annihilated the two Amorite kings, Sihon and Og, on the other side of the Jordan.

we will not hide from their descendants. We will tell the next generation about the LORD’s praiseworthy acts, about his strength and the amazing things he has done.

They told him,“ Your subjects have come from a very distant land because of the reputation of the LORD your God, for we have heard the news about all he did in Egypt

I will boast in the LORD; let the oppressed hear and rejoice!

The LORD who rules over all says,‘ In those days ten people from all languages and nations will grasp hold of– indeed, grab– the robe of one Jew and say,“ Let us go with you, for we have heard that God is with you.”’”

They were only hearing,“ The one who once persecuted us is now proclaiming the good news of the faith he once tried to destroy.”So they glorified God because of me.

Yet he delivered them for the sake of his reputation, that he might reveal his power.He shouted at the Red Sea and it dried up; he led them through the deep water as if it were a desert.He delivered them from the power of the one who hated them, and rescued them from the power of the enemy.The water covered their enemies; not even one of them survived.

When they arrived and gathered the church together, they reported all the things God had done with them, and that he had opened a door of faith for the Gentiles.

Moses agreed to stay with the man, and he gave his daughter Zipporah to Moses in marriage.

Moses said to Hobab son of Reuel, the Midianite, Moses’ father-in-law,“ We are journeying to the place about which the LORD said,‘ I will give it to you.’ Come with us and we will treat you well, for the LORD has promised good things for Israel.”

So the LORD said to Moses,“ See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh, and your brother Aaron will be your prophet.You are to speak everything I command you, and your brother Aaron is to tell Pharaoh that he must release the Israelites from his land.But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and although I will multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt,Pharaoh will not listen to you. I will reach into Egypt and bring out my regiments, my people the Israelites, from the land of Egypt with great acts of judgment.Then the Egyptians will know that I am the LORD, when I extend my hand over Egypt and bring the Israelites out from among them.And Moses and Aaron did so; they did just as the LORD commanded them.Now Moses was eighty years old and Aaron was eighty-three years old when they spoke to Pharaoh.The LORD said to Moses and Aaron,“ When Pharaoh says to you,‘ Do a miracle,’ and you say to Aaron,‘ Take your staff and throw it down before Pharaoh,’ it will become a snake.”When Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh, they did so, just as the LORD had commanded them– Aaron threw down his staff before Pharaoh and his servants and it became a snake.Then Pharaoh also summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the magicians of Egypt by their secret arts did the same thing.Each man threw down his staff, and the staffs became snakes. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs.Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had predicted.The LORD said to Moses,“ Pharaoh’s heart is hard; he refuses to release the people.Go to Pharaoh in the morning when he goes out to the water. Position yourself to meet him by the edge of the Nile, and take in your hand the staff that was turned into a snake.

Now Heber the Kenite had moved away from the Kenites, the descendants of Hobab, Moses’ father-in-law. He lived near the great tree in Zaanannim near Kedesh.

For I will not dare to speak of anything except what Christ has accomplished through me in order to bring about the obedience of the Gentiles, by word and deed,

When Paul had greeted them, he began to explain in detail what God had done among the Gentiles through his ministry.When they heard this, they praised God. Then they said to him,“ You see, brother, how many thousands of Jews there are who have believed, and they are all ardent observers of the law.

Recall the miraculous deeds he performed, his mighty acts and the judgments he decreed,

So when they came home to their father Reuel, he asked,“ Why have you come home so early today?”

The whole group kept quiet and listened to Barnabas and Paul while they explained all the miraculous signs and wonders God had done among the Gentiles through them.

So Moses went back to his father-in-law Jethro and said to him,“ Let me go, so that I may return to my relatives in Egypt and see if they are still alive.” Jethro said to Moses,“ Go in peace.”

All the nations will hear about all the good things which I will do to them. This city will bring me fame, honor, and praise before them for the joy that I bring it. The nations will tremble in awe at all the peace and prosperity that I will provide for it.’

You performed awesome signs against Pharaoh, against his servants, and against all the people of his land, for you knew that the Egyptians had acted presumptuously against them. You made for yourself a name that is celebrated to this day.You split the sea before them, and they crossed through the sea on dry ground! But you threw their pursuers into the depths, like a stone into surging waters.
