And you shall remember that the Lord your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not.

Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you. And the people shall go out and gather a certain quota every day, that I may test them, whether they will walk in My law or not.

For You, O God, have tested us; You have refined us as silver is refined.

Now these are the nations which the Lord left, that He might test Israel by them, that is, all who had not known any of the wars in Canaan

so that through them I may test Israel, whether they will keep the ways of the Lord, to walk in them as their fathers kept them, or not.”

who fed you in the wilderness with manna, which your fathers did not know, that He might humble you and that He might test you, to do you good in the end—

So he said,“ Then bring some flour.” And he put it into the pot, and said,“ Serve it to the people, that they may eat.” And there was nothing harmful in the pot.

So Moses cried out to the Lord, saying,“ What shall I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me!”

Then he went out to the source of the water, and cast in the salt there, and said,“ Thus says the Lord:‘ I have healed this water; from it there shall be no more death or barrenness.’”

Moses and Aaron were among His priests, And Samuel was among those who called upon His name; They called upon the Lord, and He answered them.

you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams, for the Lord your God is testing you to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.

And the people said to Joshua,“ No, but we will serve the Lord!”So Joshua said to the people,“ You are witnesses against yourselves that you have chosen the Lord for yourselves, to serve Him.” And they said,“ We are witnesses!”“ Now therefore,” he said,“ put away the foreign gods which are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord God of Israel.”And the people said to Joshua,“ The Lord our God we will serve, and His voice we will obey!”So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day, and made for them a statute and an ordinance in Shechem.

Then the Lord said to me,“ Even if Moses and Samuel stood before Me, My mind would not be favorable toward this people. Cast them out of My sight, and let them go forth.

You called in trouble, and I delivered you; I answered you in the secret place of thunder; I tested you at the waters of Meribah. Selah

Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts:“ Behold, I will refine them and try them; For how shall I deal with the daughter of My people?

He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him.

In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials,that the genuineness of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perishes, though it is tested by fire, may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ,

The refining pot is for silver and the furnace for gold, But the Lord tests the hearts.

Call upon Me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you, and you shall glorify Me.”
