法老剛愎厥心、追襲爾後、我姑聽之、迨殲法老、覆其軍、以獲大榮、使埃及人知行是事者、我耶和華也。以色列族遵命而行。○

我使法老剛愎其心、追以色列人、我則因法老與其全軍而獲大榮、俾伊及人知我乃主、以色列人遂如此行、

I will make Pharaoh stubborn. He will chase them. But I will gain glory for myself because of what will happen to Pharaoh and his whole army. And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord.” So the Israelites camped by the Red Sea.

And I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will pursue them, and I will get glory over Pharaoh and all his host, and the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.

And once again I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and he will chase after you. I have planned this in order to display my glory through Pharaoh and his whole army. After this the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord!” So the Israelites camped there as they were told.

What if God, although choosing to show his wrath and make his power known, bore with great patience the objects of his wrath— prepared for destruction?What if he did this to make the riches of his glory known to the objects of his mercy, whom he prepared in advance for glory—

And the Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I stretch out my hand against Egypt and bring the Israelites out of it.”

For Scripture says to Pharaoh:“ I raised you up for this very purpose, that I might display my power in you and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.”

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and though I multiply my signs and wonders in Egypt,

But I have raised you up for this very purpose, that I might show you my power and that my name might be proclaimed in all the earth.

This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.

But you blew with your breath, and the sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.Who among the gods is like you, Lord? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?

But for the sake of my name, I brought them out of Egypt. I did it to keep my name from being profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they lived and in whose sight I had revealed myself to the Israelites.

I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen.The Egyptians will know that I am the Lord when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen.”

The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will grip the people of Philistia.The chiefs of Edom will be terrified, the leaders of Moab will be seized with trembling, the people of Canaan will melt away;terror and dread will fall on them. By the power of your arm they will be as still as a stone— until your people pass by, Lord, until the people you bought pass by.

he said,“ Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and for the glory of my majesty?”Even as the words were on his lips, a voice came from heaven,“ This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.You will be driven away from people and will live with the wild animals; you will eat grass like the ox. Seven times will pass by for you until you acknowledge that the Most High is sovereign over all kingdoms on earth and gives them to anyone he wishes.”Immediately what had been said about Nebuchadnezzar was fulfilled. He was driven away from people and ate grass like the ox. His body was drenched with the dew of heaven until his hair grew like the feathers of an eagle and his nails like the claws of a bird.At the end of that time, I, Nebuchadnezzar, raised my eyes toward heaven, and my sanity was restored. Then I praised the Most High; I honored and glorified him who lives forever. His dominion is an eternal dominion; his kingdom endures from generation to generation.All the peoples of the earth are regarded as nothing. He does as he pleases with the powers of heaven and the peoples of the earth. No one can hold back his hand or say to him:“ What have you done?”At the same time that my sanity was restored, my honor and splendor were returned to me for the glory of my kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored to my throne and became even greater than before.Now I, Nebuchadnezzar, praise and exalt and glorify the King of heaven, because everything he does is right and all his ways are just. And those who walk in pride he is able to humble.

After this I heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:“ Hallelujah! Salvation and glory and power belong to our God,for true and just are his judgments. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries. He has avenged on her the blood of his servants.”And again they shouted:“ Hallelujah! The smoke from her goes up for ever and ever.”The twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God, who was seated on the throne. And they cried:“ Amen, Hallelujah!”Then a voice came from the throne, saying:“ Praise our God, all you his servants, you who fear him, both great and small!”Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting:“ Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns.

The Lord said to Moses,“ When you return to Egypt, see that you perform before Pharaoh all the wonders I have given you the power to do. But I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go.Then say to Pharaoh,‘ This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son,and I told you,“ Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”At a lodging place on the way, the Lord met Moses and was about to kill him.But Zipporah took a flint knife, cut off her son’s foreskin and touched Moses’ feet with it.“ Surely you are a bridegroom of blood to me,” she said.So the Lord let him alone.( At that time she said“ bridegroom of blood,” referring to circumcision.)The Lord said to Aaron,“ Go into the wilderness to meet Moses.” So he met Moses at the mountain of God and kissed him.Then Moses told Aaron everything the Lord had sent him to say, and also about all the signs he had commanded him to perform.Moses and Aaron brought together all the elders of the Israelites,and Aaron told them everything the Lord had said to Moses. He also performed the signs before the people,and they believed. And when they heard that the Lord was concerned about them and had seen their misery, they bowed down and worshiped.

Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard and he would not listen to them, just as the Lord had said.Then the Lord said to Moses,“ Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.

The Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, so that he pursued the Israelites, who were marching out boldly.

The eyes of the arrogant will be humbled and human pride brought low; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day.The Lord Almighty has a day in store for all the proud and lofty, for all that is exalted( and they will be humbled),

All the people of the land will bury them, and the day I display my glory will be a memorable day for them, declares the Sovereign Lord.

Now I know that the Lord is greater than all other gods, for he did this to those who had treated Israel arrogantly.”

You sent signs and wonders against Pharaoh, against all his officials and all the people of his land, for you knew how arrogantly the Egyptians treated them. You made a name for yourself, which remains to this day.

as it is written:“ God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that could not see and ears that could not hear, to this very day.”

and say:‘ This is what the Sovereign Lord says:“‘ I am against you, Sidon, and among you I will display my glory. You will know that I am the Lord, when I inflict punishment on you and within you am proved to be holy.
