“‘正月十四日，是耶和華的逾越節。

二月十四日，他們宰了逾越節的羊羔。祭司和利未人都覺得慚愧，就自潔，把燔祭帶到耶和華的殿裡。他們遵照神人摩西的律法，按著定例，站在自己的崗位上。祭司從利未人手裡把血接過來，灑在祭壇上。因為會眾中有很多人還沒有自潔，所以利未人必須為所有不潔的人宰殺逾越節的羊羔，使他們在耶和華面前成為聖潔。原來有一大群人，很多是從以法蓮、瑪拿西、以薩迦和西布倫來的，還沒有自潔，就吃逾越節的羊羔，不遵照所記的定例；因此，希西家為他們禱告說：“凡是立定心意，專一尋求神耶和華他們列祖的神的，雖然沒有照著聖所潔淨的禮自潔，願良善的耶和華也饒恕他們。”

他們要在二月十四日，黃昏的時候，守逾越節，同時要吃無酵餅和苦菜；

希律和本丟．彼拉多，外族人和以色列民，真的在這城裡聚集，反對你所膏立的聖僕耶穌，

“以色列人的怨言，我已經聽見了。你告訴他們說：‘黃昏的時候你們必吃肉，早晨的時候必有食物吃飽；這樣，你們就知道我耶和華是你們的神了。’”

“正月十四日，你們要守逾越節，節期共七天，期間你們要吃無酵餅。

以色列人出埃及地以後，第二年正月，耶和華在西奈曠野吩咐摩西說：“以色列人要在指定的時間守逾越節，就是本月十四日，黃昏的時候，你們要在指定的時間守這節，要照著這節的一切律例和一切典章而行。”

眾人都起來，把耶穌押到彼拉多那裡，

群眾上去，要求彼拉多援例給他們辦理。

祭司長和長老慫恿群眾，叫他們去要求釋放巴拉巴，除掉耶穌。

第一日要有聖會，甚麼勞碌的工都不可作，

從正月十四日晚上起，直到本月二十一日晚上止，你們要吃無酵餅。

眾人齊聲喊叫：“除掉這個人，給我們釋放巴拉巴！”

群眾回答：“流他的血的責任，歸在我們和我們子孫的身上吧。”

“你要守亞筆月，向耶和華你的神守逾越節，因為耶和華你的神在亞筆月的一個晚上，把你從埃及地領出來。你要在耶和華選擇立為他名的居所的地方，把羊和牛作逾越節的祭牲獻給耶和華你的神。你吃這祭的時候，不可和有酵的餅一同吃；七日之內，你要吃無酵餅，就是困苦餅，因為你是急急忙忙從埃及地出來的，好使你一生的年日都可以記念你從埃及地出來的日子。七天之內，在你的全境不可見有酵。第一天晚上你獻的祭肉，一點也不可剩下，留到早晨。你不能在耶和華你的神賜給你的任何一座城裡，宰殺逾越節的祭牲；只能在耶和華你的神選擇作他名的居所的地方，晚上日落的時候，就是你出埃及的時刻，宰殺逾越節的祭牲；

他照著神的定旨和預知被交了出去，你們就藉不法之徒的手，把他釘死了。

一到清晨，祭司長和長老、經學家以及公議會全體一致議決，把耶穌綁起來，押去交給彼拉多。

他們釘他十字架的時候，是在上午九點鐘。

大約三點鐘，耶穌大聲呼叫：“以利，以利，拉馬撒巴各大尼？”意思是“我的神，我的神，你為甚麼離棄我？”有幾個站在那裡的人，聽見了就說：“這個人在呼叫以利亞呢。”有一個人馬上跑去拿海綿蘸滿了酸酒，用蘆葦遞給他喝。但其他的人說：“等一等，我們看看以利亞來不來救他。”耶穌再大聲呼叫，氣就斷了。

從正午到下午三點鐘，遍地都黑暗了。下午三點的時候，耶穌大聲呼號：“以羅伊，以羅伊，拉馬撒巴各大尼？”這句話譯出來就是：“我的神，我的神，你為甚麼離棄我？”

祭司長卻煽動群眾，寧可要總督釋放巴拉巴給他們。

我們眾人都如羊走迷了路，各人偏行己路；耶和華卻把我們眾人的罪孽，都歸在他身上。

你們把那聖者義者拒絕了，反而要求給你們釋放一個殺人犯。
