他一吩咐，狂風就颳起，海中的波浪也高揚。他們上到天上，下到深淵，他們的心因危難而驚慌。他們搖搖晃晃，東倒西歪，好像醉酒的人；他們的一切智慧都沒有用了。於是他們在急難中呼求耶和華，他就拯救他們脫離困苦。

他從天空颳起東風，施能力領出南風。

眾人都驚奇，說：“這是甚麼人，連風和海也聽從他？”

日出的時候，神又安排炎熱的東風。烈日曬在約拿的頭上，以致發昏，他就為自己求死，說：“我死了比活著還好。”

他一發命令，蝗蟲就來，蚱蜢也來，多得無法數算，

但是耶和華在海上忽然颳起大風，於是海中狂風大作，船幾乎要破裂了。

火和冰雹，雪和雲霧，執行他命令的狂風，

摩西向海伸手，耶和華就用極強的東風，一夜之間使海水退去；他使海變成乾地，海水也分開了。

接著，又長出七個麥穗，又乾瘦又被東風吹焦了。
