“看哪，這就是我和你所立的約：你要作多國的父。你的名不要再叫亞伯蘭，要叫亞伯拉罕，因為我已經立了你作萬國的父。我要使你極其昌盛，國度因你而立，君王必從你而出。

你的後裔必像地面的灰塵那麼多；你必向東、南、西、北擴展；地上的萬族必因你和你的後裔得福。

“神給亞伯拉罕的應許快要實現的時候，以色列人在埃及人口繁盛增多；但是，到了另一位不認識約瑟的君王興起統治埃及的時候，

神說：“水要滋長生物；地上和天空之中，要有雀鳥飛翔！”

我要使你的後裔好像地上灰塵那麼多；若能數算地上的灰塵，才能數算你的後裔。

耶和華使他的子民生育眾多，使他們比他們的敵人更強盛。

我必定賜福給你，必使你的後裔繁多，像天上的星，海邊的沙；你的後裔必佔領仇敵的城門。

以色列人從蘭塞起行到疏割去，除了小孩子以外，步行的男人約有六十萬。

於是領他到外面去，說：“你向天觀看，數點眾星，看你能不能把它們數得清楚。”又對他說：“你的後裔將要這樣眾多。”

我必使你的後裔增多，好像天上的星那樣多；我必把這全地都賜給你的後裔；地上的萬國都必因你的後裔得福。

那救我脫離一切禍患的使者，賜福給這兩個童子。願我的名，我祖亞伯拉罕和以撒的名，藉著他們得以流傳；願他們在地上生養眾多。”
