Then Haman went out that day joyful and pleased of heart; but when Haman saw Mordecai at the king’s gate and that he did not stand up or tremble before him, Haman was filled with anger against Mordecai.

Haman went out that day happy and in high spirits. But when he saw Mordecai at the king’s gate and observed that he neither rose nor showed fear in his presence, he was filled with rage against Mordecai.

That day Haman was happy. So he left the palace in a good mood. But then he saw Mordecai at the palace gate. He noticed that Mordecai didn’t stand up when he walked by. In fact, Mordecai didn’t have any respect for him at all. So he was very angry with him.

And Haman went out that day joyful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.

Haman was a happy man as he left the banquet! But when he saw Mordecai sitting at the palace gate, not standing up or trembling nervously before him, Haman became furious.

That day Haman left full of joy and in good spirits. But when Haman saw Mordecai at the King’s Gate, and Mordecai didn’t rise or tremble in fear at his presence, Haman was filled with rage toward Mordecai.

Then Nebuchadnezzar in rage and anger gave orders to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego; then these men were brought before the king.

Truly, truly I say to you that you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will grieve, but your grief will be turned into joy!

Do horses run on rocks? Or does one plow them with oxen? Yet you have turned justice into poison, And the fruit of righteousness into wormwood,You who rejoice in Lodebar, And say,“ Have we not by our own strength taken Karnaim for ourselves?”

So Ahab entered his house sullen and furious because of the answer that Naboth the Jezreelite had given to him, since he said,“ I will not give you the inheritance of my fathers.” And he lay down on his bed and turned his face away, and ate no food.

That the rejoicing of the wicked is short, And the joy of the godless momentary?

Woe to you who are well fed now, for you will be hungry. Woe to you who laugh now, for you will mourn and weep.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego replied to the king,“ Nebuchadnezzar, we are not in need of an answer to give you concerning this matter.If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire; and He will rescue us from your hand, O king.But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods nor worship the golden statue that you have set up.”Then Nebuchadnezzar was filled with wrath, and his facial expression was changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed nego. He answered by giving orders to heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated.

Now when the virgins were gathered together for the second time, then Mordecai was sitting at the king’s gate.

A despicable person is despised in his eyes, But he honors those who fear the Lord; He takes an oath to his own detriment, and does not change;

All the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded regarding him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage.

If an army encamps against me, My heart will not fear; If war arises against me, In spite of this I am confident.

Then when Herod saw that he had been tricked by the magi, he became very enraged, and sent men and killed all the boys who were in Bethlehem and all its vicinity who were two years old or under, according to the time which he had determined from the magi.

Have the people of my tent not said,‘ Who can find one who has not been satisfied with his meat’?

Be miserable, and mourn, and weep; let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into gloom.

And do not be afraid of those who kill the body but are unable to kill the soul; but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Now when they heard this, they were infuriated, and they began gnashing their teeth at him.
