When Esther’s eunuchs and female attendants came and told her about Mordecai, she was in great distress. She sent clothes for him to put on instead of his sackcloth, but he would not accept them.

他就動身去了。有一個衣索匹亞人，是衣索匹亞女王干大基有權力的太監，掌管女王全部國庫。他上耶路撒冷去禮拜。

與耶和華聯合的外族人不要說：“耶和華必把我從他的子民中分別出來。”被閹割了的人也不要說：“看哪！我是一棵枯樹。”

你們撒種所得的和葡萄園所出的，他都徵收十分之一，賜給他的太監和臣僕。

王后瓦實提卻不肯遵照王藉著太監所傳的命令，所以王非常生氣，怒火中燒。

耶和華這樣說：“在拉瑪聽見有聲音，是痛哭哀號的聲音；拉結為她的兒女哀哭，不肯受安慰，因為他們都不在了。”

耶戶抬頭對著窗戶，說：“有誰擁護我？誰？”立時有兩三個太監往外望著他。

他所有的兒女都起來安慰他，他卻不肯接受他們的安慰，說：“我要悲悲哀哀地下到陰間，到我的兒子那裡去。”約瑟的父親就為他哀哭。
