“ Go, gather together all the Jews who are in Susa, and fast for me. Do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my attendants will fast as you do. When this is done, I will go to the king, even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish.”

“ Go. Gather together all the Jews who are in Susa. And fast for my benefit. Don’t eat or drink anything for three days. Don’t do it night or day. I and my attendants will fast just as you do. Then I’ll go to the king. I’ll do it even though it’s against the law. And if I have to die, I’ll die.”

“ Go, gather all the Jews to be found in Susa, and hold a fast on my behalf, and do not eat or drink for three days, night or day. I and my young women will also fast as you do. Then I will go to the king, though it is against the law, and if I perish, I perish.”

然我不以為意、不貴生命、但忻然馳驟、以盡我程、並主耶穌所授之職、以上帝恩寵福音示人、

約沙法甚恐、禱耶和華、使猶大舉國禁食。

耶和華曰、爾當一心歸誠乎我、禁食、號哭、悲哀、當裂肺肝、毋裂衣服、歸誠爾之上帝耶和華、我以仁慈為念、矜憫為懷、恆忍靡已、施恩格外、所言降災之事、必能中止、望我回厥志、畀以純嘏、則爾得以禮物灌奠、獻我於耶和華。吹角號令郇邑、使人禁食、以守大會、和會斯民、自老及幼、至於乳哺之子、即新娶者與新婦、亦當出室、祭司在耶和華前、供厥役事、當於廡下祭壇間、澘然出涕、曰、耶和華與、斯民也、本屬乎爾、求爾寛宥、不致蒙羞、為異邦人所統轄、異邦人凌侮之、曰、爾之上帝安在、亦奚以為、

凡欲救其生命者、反喪之、為我而喪生命者、必救之、

我知彼必囑其子、及眷屬、令守我道、秉公行義、如是則我所許者、可踐其言。

如事耶和華爾視為不善、今日簡所欲事者、或爾祖在大河東所事之上帝、或爾居斯土亞摩哩人之上帝、惟我與全家必事耶和華。

約拿入城、歷一日之程、呼曰、尼尼微邑、不過四十日、必傾圮矣。尼尼微人信上帝、使眾自尊逮卑、禁食衣麻、尼尼微王聞言下位、解衣衣麻、坐於塗炭。王與諸侯出諭、遍尼尼微邑曰、人與六畜牛羊、俱勿食糧、飲水、俱必衣麻、懇籲上帝、眾當去惡、勿虐人民、庶幾上帝或回厥志、而息其怒、使我不亡。

使人禁食、必守大會、集長老居民、入爾上帝耶和華之殿、呼籲耶和華、嗚呼哀哉、耶和華降災、其日伊邇、全能之主、殲滅是邦、

願全能之上帝、使爾獲寵於其人前、遣爾兄與便雅憫歸、若我喪子、則亦已矣。○

越三日后衣朝服、進深宮、入內院、至殿前、王坐於堂上。

宜強乃志、為我民及為我上帝之眾邑戰、願耶和華任意以行。

亦為我命冒死、故不第余謝之、在異邦諸教會亦然、

今萬有之主耶和華、頒厥詔命、使爾號哭、薙髮衣麻、

蓋服勞基督瀕死、不顧己命、欲補爾事我之不逮、

三日不見、飲食皆廢、○

天將明、保羅勸眾曰、爾曹不甘食、十四日矣、
