Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ.

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

Slaves, obey your masters here on earth. Respect them and honor them with a heart that is true. Obey them just as you would obey Christ.

Bondservants, obey your earthly masters with fear and trembling, with a sincere heart, as you would Christ,

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as you would Christ.

Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ;

Bondservants, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in sincerity of heart, as to Christ;

Servants, be obedient unto them that according to the flesh are your masters, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;

Slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ.

You who are slaves must submit to your masters with all respect. Do what they tell you— not only if they are kind and reasonable, but even if they are cruel.For God is pleased when, conscious of his will, you patiently endure unjust treatment.Of course, you get no credit for being patient if you are beaten for doing wrong. But if you suffer for doing good and endure it patiently, God is pleased with you.For God called you to do good, even if it means suffering, just as Christ suffered for you. He is your example, and you must follow in his steps.

Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must not talk backor steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father.Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting for those who belong to the Lord.Husbands, love your wives and never treat them harshly.Children, always obey your parents, for this pleases the Lord.Fathers, do not aggravate your children, or they will become discouraged.Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything you do. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. Serve them sincerely because of your reverent fear of the Lord.Work willingly at whatever you do, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.Remember that the Lord will give you an inheritance as your reward, and that the Master you are serving is Christ.

The Lord of Heaven’s Armies says to the priests:“ A son honors his father, and a servant respects his master. If I am your father and master, where are the honor and respect I deserve? You have shown contempt for my name!“ But you ask,‘ How have we ever shown contempt for your name?’

This letter is from Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus. I am writing to God’s holy people in Ephesus, who are faithful followers of Christ Jesus.May God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ give you grace and peace.All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes.God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son.He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins.He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding.God has now revealed to us his mysterious will regarding Christ— which is to fulfill his own good plan.And this is the plan: At the right time he will bring everything together under the authority of Christ— everything in heaven and on earth.Furthermore, because we are united with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for he chose us in advance, and he makes everything work out according to his plan.God’s purpose was that we Jews who were the first to trust in Christ would bring praise and glory to God.And now you Gentiles have also heard the truth, the Good News that God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit, whom he promised long ago.The Spirit is God’s guarantee that he will give us the inheritance he promised and that he has purchased us to be his own people. He did this so we would praise and glorify him.Ever since I first heard of your strong faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for God’s people everywhere,I have not stopped thanking God for you. I pray for you constantly,asking God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, to give you spiritual wisdom and insight so that you might grow in your knowledge of God.I pray that your hearts will be flooded with light so that you can understand the confident hope he has given to those he called— his holy people who are his rich and glorious inheritance.I also pray that you will understand the incredible greatness of God’s power for us who believe him. This is the same mighty powerthat raised Christ from the dead and seated him in the place of honor at God’s right hand in the heavenly realms.Now he is far above any ruler or authority or power or leader or anything else— not only in this world but also in the world to come.God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.

We keep looking to the Lord our God for his mercy, just as servants keep their eyes on their master, as a slave girl watches her mistress for the slightest signal.

All slaves should show full respect for their masters so they will not bring shame on the name of God and his teaching.If the masters are believers, that is no excuse for being disrespectful. Those slaves should work all the harder because their efforts are helping other believers who are well loved. Teach these things, Timothy, and encourage everyone to obey them.Some people may contradict our teaching, but these are the wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. These teachings promote a godly life.

Dear friends, you always followed my instructions when I was with you. And now that I am away, it is even more important. Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence and fear.

For wives, this means submit to your husbands as to the Lord.

For I am jealous for you with the jealousy of God himself. I promised you as a pure bride to one husband— Christ.But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided devotion to Christ will be corrupted, just as Eve was deceived by the cunning ways of the serpent.

by observing your pure and reverent lives.

Teach me your ways, O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you.

I know, my God, that you examine our hearts and rejoice when you find integrity there. You know I have done all this with good motives, and I have watched your people offer their gifts willingly and joyously.

“ So fear the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshiped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord alone.

He is no longer like a slave to you. He is more than a slave, for he is a beloved brother, especially to me. Now he will mean much more to you, both as a man and as a brother in the Lord.

May God’s grace be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ.

“ Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.

We can say with confidence and a clear conscience that we have lived with a God given holiness and sincerity in all our dealings. We have depended on God’s grace, not on our own human wisdom. That is how we have conducted ourselves before the world, and especially toward you.

They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity—

As soon as the angel was gone, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier, one of his personal attendants.He told them what had happened and sent them off to Joppa.

I know this because I am under the authority of my superior officers, and I have authority over my soldiers. I only need to say,‘ Go,’ and they go, or‘ Come,’ and they come. And if I say to my slaves,‘ Do this,’ they do it.”

Now he cares for you more than ever when he remembers the way all of you obeyed him and welcomed him with such fear and deep respect.

“ No one can serve two masters. For you will hate one and love the other; you will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and be enslaved to money.

I came to you in weakness— timid and trembling.

And remember, if you were a slave when the Lord called you, you are now free in the Lord. And if you were free when the Lord called you, you are now a slave of Christ.

The angel of the Lord said to her,“ Return to your mistress, and submit to her authority.”
