Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.

So each of you must get rid of your lying. Speak the truth to your neighbor. We are all parts of one body.

Don’t lie to each other, for you have stripped off your old sinful nature and all its wicked deeds.

But this is what you must do: Tell the truth to each other. Render verdicts in your courts that are just and that lead to peace.

so it is with Christ’s body. We are many parts of one body, and we all belong to each other.

The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell the truth.

for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception.

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.

An honest witness tells the truth; a false witness tells lies.

This truth gives them confidence that they have eternal life, which God— who does not lie— promised them before the world began.

These people are hypocrites and liars, and their consciences are dead.

Truthful words stand the test of time, but lies are soon exposed.

“ My people bend their tongues like bows to shoot out lies. They refuse to stand up for the truth. They only go from bad to worse. They do not know me,” says the Lord.“ Beware of your neighbor! Your hands are the hands of murderers, and your fingers are filthy with sin. Your lips are full of lies, and your mouth spews corruption.No one cares about being fair and honest. The people’s lawsuits are based on lies. They conceive evil deeds and then give birth to sin.

Outside the city are the dogs— the sorcerers, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idol worshipers, and all who love to live a lie.

Keep me from lying to myself; give me the privilege of knowing your instructions.

But the old prophet answered,“ I am a prophet, too, just as you are. And an angel gave me this command from the Lord:‘ Bring him home with you so he can have something to eat and drink.’” But the old man was lying to him.

You love evil more than good and lies more than truth. Interlude

But we have all been baptized into one body by one Spirit, and we all share the same Spirit.Yes, the body has many different parts, not just one part.If the foot says,“ I am not a part of the body because I am not a hand,” that does not make it any less a part of the body.And if the ear says,“ I am not part of the body because I am not an eye,” would that make it any less a part of the body?If the whole body were an eye, how would you hear? Or if your whole body were an ear, how would you smell anything?But our bodies have many parts, and God has put each part just where he wants it.How strange a body would be if it had only one part!Yes, there are many parts, but only one body.The eye can never say to the hand,“ I don’t need you.” The head can’t say to the feet,“ I don’t need you.”In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary.And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen,while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity.This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other.If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad.All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.

You make vows and break them; you kill and steal and commit adultery. There is violence everywhere— one murder after another.

“ This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies says: The traditional fasts and times of mourning you have kept in early summer, midsummer, autumn, and winter are now ended. They will become festivals of joy and celebration for the people of Judah. So love truth and peace.

haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that kill the innocent,

The law is for people who are sexually immoral, or who practice homosexuality, or are slave traders, liars, promise breakers, or who do anything else that contradicts the wholesome teaching

And we are members of his body.
