and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

He planned to bring both Jews and Gentiles back to God as one body. He planned to do this through the cross. On that cross, Christ put to death their hatred toward one another.

藉着他，神使萬有與自己和好，無論是地上的、天上的，都藉着他在十字架上所流的血促成了和平。從前你們與神隔絕，心思上與他為敵，行為邪惡；但如今，他藉着他兒子肉身的死，已經使你們與他自己和好了，把你們獻在他的面前，成為聖潔，沒有瑕疵，無可指責。

因為我們作仇敵的時候，尚且藉着神兒子的死得以與神和好，既已和好，就更要因他的生得救了。

律法既因肉體軟弱而無能為力，神就差遣自己的兒子成為罪身的樣子，為了對付罪，在肉體中定了罪，

塗去了在律例上所寫、敵對我們、束縛我們的字據，把它撤去，釘在十字架上。

一切都是出於神；他藉着基督使我們與他和好，又將勸人與他和好的使命賜給我們。這就是：神在基督裏使世人與自己和好，不將他們的過犯歸到他們身上，並且將這和好的信息託付了我們。所以，我們作基督的特使，就好像神藉我們勸你們一般。我們替基督求你們，與神和好吧！神使那無罪的，替我們成為罪，好使我們在他裏面成為神的義。

既然基督在肉身受苦，你們也該將這樣的心志作為兵器，因為在肉身受過苦的已經與罪斷絕了，使你們從今以後不再隨從人的情慾，只順從神的旨意，在世度餘下的光陰。

廢掉那記在律法上的規條，為要使兩方藉着自己造成一個新人，促成了和平；

現在活着的不再是我，乃是基督在我裏面活着；並且我如今在肉身活着，是因信神的兒子而活；他是愛我，為我捨己。

因為體貼肉體就是與神為敵，對神的律法不順服，事實上也無法順服。

我們知道，我們的舊人和他同釘十字架，使罪身滅絕，叫我們不再作罪的奴隸，
