and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

He planned to bring both Jews and Gentiles back to God as one body. He planned to do this through the cross. On that cross, Christ put to death their hatred toward one another.

又藉着他在十字架上所流的血成就了和平，就是藉着他使万有——无论地上的或天上的——都与他自己和好了。从前，你们在邪恶的行为中与神隔绝，在意念中与他为敌；但如今，神在基督的血肉之躯上，藉着死使你们与他自己和好了，并且使你们站在他面前，是圣洁、毫无瑕疵、无可指责的。

这样，我们做神敌人的时候，尚且能藉着神儿子的死与神和好，何况和好以后，难道不更要藉着神儿子的生命得救吗？

因肉体软弱的缘故，律法所做不到的，神却做到了——神派遣了自己的儿子成为罪的肉身样式，并且为了赎罪，用肉身判决了罪，

抹去了在敌对我们的那些规条中反对我们的债务记录，并且把它从中除掉，钉在十字架上。

这一切都是出于神，他藉着基督使我们与他自己和好，并且把这劝人与他和好的服事工作赐给了我们。这就是说，在基督里，神使世人与自己和好，不把他们的过犯算在他们的身上，又把这和好的福音托付了我们。因此我们是基督的特使，就像神藉着我们在劝告人——我们代替基督请求说：“与神和好吧！”神使那位没有罪的替我们成为罪，好使我们在他里面成为神的义。

所以，基督既然在肉身上受过苦，你们也应该以同样的心志装备自己，因为那在肉身上受过苦的，就已经与罪断绝了，以致不再顺着人的欲望，而是顺着神的旨意，在世上度余下的时间。

废除了谕令中诫命的律法，为了把两者在他自己里面造成一个新人，缔造和平。

所以现在活着的不再是我，而是基督在我里面活着；并且如今我在肉体中活着，是因信神的儿子而活；他爱我，甚至为我舍弃了自己。

原来属肉体的思想是敌对神的，因为它不服从神的律法，其实也不能服从；

我们知道，我们的旧我已经和基督一起被钉十字架，好让罪的身体被废除，使我们不再做罪的奴仆，
