And the Spirit of the Lord will rest on him— the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

But the wisdom from above is first of all pure. It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others. It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds. It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.

So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding.Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better.

Then you will understand what it means to fear the Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.

By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.

And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is.May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

Rather, you must grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. All glory to him, both now and forever! Amen.

And this is the way to have eternal life— to know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, the one you sent to earth.

“ My Father has entrusted everything to me. No one truly knows the Son except the Father, and no one truly knows the Father except the Son and those to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.”

“ O righteous Father, the world doesn’t know you, but I do; and these disciples know you sent me.I have revealed you to them, and I will continue to do so. Then your love for me will be in them, and I will be in them.”

But it was to us that God revealed these things by his Spirit. For his Spirit searches out everything and shows us God’s deep secrets.

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms because we are united with Christ.

God did not reveal it to previous generations, but now by his Spirit he has revealed it to his holy apostles and prophets.

“ Don’t cling to me,” Jesus said,“ for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them,‘ I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.’”

I want them to be encouraged and knit together by strong ties of love. I want them to have complete confidence that they understand God’s mysterious plan, which is Christ himself.In him lie hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

I will give them hearts that recognize me as the Lord. They will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me wholeheartedly.

None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke.

This boasting will do no good, but I must go on. I will reluctantly tell about visions and revelations from the Lord.

And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.

Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter.

But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative— that is, the Holy Spirit— he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you.

Jesus answered,“ If I want glory for myself, it doesn’t count. But it is my Father who will glorify me. You say,‘ He is our God,’but you don’t even know him. I know him. If I said otherwise, I would be as great a liar as you! But I do know him and obey him.

Who is the King of glory? The Lord of Heaven’s Armies— he is the King of glory. Interlude

To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.

for I will give you the right words and such wisdom that none of your opponents will be able to reply or refute you!

This is because they have never known the Father or me.

They sang,“ Amen! Blessing and glory and wisdom and thanksgiving and honor and power and strength belong to our God forever and ever! Amen.”

My dear brothers and sisters, how can you claim to have faith in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ if you favor some people over others?

This letter is from Paul, a slave of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ. I have been sent to proclaim faith to those God has chosen and to teach them to know the truth that shows them how to live godly lives.

But there is a God in heaven who reveals secrets, and he has shown King Nebuchadnezzar what will happen in the future. Now I will tell you your dream and the visions you saw as you lay on your bed.“ While Your Majesty was sleeping, you dreamed about coming events. He who reveals secrets has shown you what is going to happen.And it is not because I am wiser than anyone else that I know the secret of your dream, but because God wants you to understand what was in your heart.

But those who wish to boast should boast in this alone: that they truly know me and understand that I am the Lord who demonstrates unfailing love and who brings justice and righteousness to the earth, and that I delight in these things. I, the Lord, have spoken!

So Pharaoh asked his officials,“ Can we find anyone else like this man so obviously filled with the spirit of God?”Then Pharaoh said to Joseph,“ Since God has revealed the meaning of the dreams to you, clearly no one else is as intelligent or wise as you are.

Dear brothers and sisters, if I should come to you speaking in an unknown language, how would that help you? But if I bring you a revelation or some special knowledge or prophecy or teaching, that will be helpful.

But the rulers of this world have not understood it; if they had, they would not have crucified our glorious Lord.

There is a man in your kingdom who has within him the spirit of the holy gods. During Nebuchadnezzar’s reign, this man was found to have insight, understanding, and wisdom like that of the gods. Your predecessor, the king— your predecessor King Nebuchadnezzar— made him chief over all the magicians, enchanters, astrologers, and fortune tellers of Babylon.

Jesus replied,“ You are blessed, Simon son of John, because my Father in heaven has revealed this to you. You did not learn this from any human being.

In the third year of the reign of King Cyrus of Persia, Daniel( also known as Belteshazzar) had another vision. He understood that the vision concerned events certain to happen in the future— times of war and great hardship.

At that time Jesus prayed this prayer:“ O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, thank you for hiding these things from those who think themselves wise and clever, and for revealing them to the childlike.

Has any nation ever traded its gods for new ones, even though they are not gods at all? Yet my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols!

He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth. The world cannot receive him, because it isn’t looking for him and doesn’t recognize him. But you know him, because he lives with you now and later will be in you.

And they will not need to teach their neighbors, nor will they need to teach their relatives, saying,‘ You should know the Lord.’ For everyone, from the least to the greatest, will know me already,” says the Lord.“ And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins.”

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea. The God of glory thunders. The Lord thunders over the mighty sea.

“ Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on earth to those with whom God is pleased.”

for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what needs to be said.”

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things.

This was Stephen’s reply:“ Brothers and fathers, listen to me. Our glorious God appeared to our ancestor Abraham in Mesopotamia before he settled in Haran.

And we can be sure that we know him if we obey his commandments.If someone claims,“ I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth.

Then all of you can join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Gently instruct those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change those people’s hearts, and they will learn the truth.

Since they thought it foolish to acknowledge God, he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them do things that should never be done.
