因為人類並不知道他自己的定時：魚怎樣被捉住於致禍的網裏，鳥怎樣被捉住於機檻中，人類當禍患時、災禍忽然降到他們身上時、人也怎樣被羅住。

Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come: As fish are caught in a cruel net, or birds are taken in a snare, so people are trapped by evil times that fall unexpectedly upon them.

No one knows when trouble will come to them. Fish are caught in nets. Birds are taken in traps. And people are trapped by hard times that come when they don’t expect them.

For man does not know his time. Like fish that are taken in an evil net, and like birds that are caught in a snare, so the children of man are snared at an evil time, when it suddenly falls upon them.

People can never predict when hard times might come. Like fish in a net or birds in a trap, people are caught by sudden tragedy.

For certainly no one knows his time: like fish caught in a cruel net or like birds caught in a trap, so people are trapped in an evil time as it suddenly falls on them.

For indeed, a person does not know his time: like fish that are caught in a treacherous net and birds caught in a snare, so the sons of mankind are ensnared at an evil time when it suddenly falls on them.

For man also does not know his time: Like fish taken in a cruel net, Like birds caught in a snare, So the sons of men are snared in an evil time, When it falls suddenly upon them.

For man also knoweth not his time: as the fishes that are taken in an evil net, and as the birds that are caught in the snare, even so are the sons of men snared in an evil time, when it falleth suddenly upon them.

Surely, no one knows his appointed time! Like fish that are caught in a deadly net, and like birds that are caught in a snare– just like them, all people are ensnared at an unfortunate time that falls upon them suddenly.

壞人的過犯中有網羅纏住自己；惟獨義人能奔跑、歡喜快樂。

人正說平安穩妥的時候，就在那時、突來的死滅就臨到他們了——正如產難臨到懷孕的婦人一樣——他們斷不能逃脫。

凡遵守命令的必不至於經歷禍患的事；智慧人的心自能曉得作事的時候與風度。各樣事務都有作的時候與風度；因為人的困難重壓在他身上：他不知道將來要怎樣，因為將來的事誰能告訴他呢？

『你們要自己注意，恐怕你們的心受重壓在過度飲食醉酒和日常生活之掛慮中，那日子就如同網羅突然臨到你們了；因為那日子總必臨到住全地上一切的人。你們要時刻覺醒，時常祈禱，使你們得勝，能逃避這一切要來的事，得以站在人子面前。』

這一點你們要曉得：家主若知道賊甚麼鐘點要來，他就不讓他的房屋給挖透了。

壞事的定案不立刻施刑罰，故此人類的心敢於作壞事。

啊，你實在把他們安在滑地，使他們掉在完全荒廢的地步。一眨眼間他們怎樣地成了荒涼啊！他們全都被可怕的災難滅盡了。就像個夢，醒了以後、便歸無有；你起來，就看不到其影像。

竟使人像海中的魚，像無管轄者的爬行物呢？他用鈎子把他們都鈎上來，用網子給拉出來，用拉網給收集在一起，故此他歡喜快樂。就向網子獻祭，向拉網燻祭，因為藉着這些祭物他的分兒就肥美，他的食物就肥甘。因此他不斷地拔刀，殺戮列國人、毫不顧惜。

在挪亞的日子怎樣，在人子的日子也必怎樣；人喫喝嫁娶，直到挪亞進樓船那一天，洪水一來，把他們都滅了。又好像在羅得的日子一樣；人喫喝買賣，栽種建造；但羅得從所多瑪出來那一天，上帝從天上下火雨跟硫磺雨，把他們都滅了。在人子顯示出來的日子也必如此。當那日子，人在房頂上、而家具在屋子裏的、不要下來取；那在田地裏的、也照樣不要返回。

那愚蠢人跟着她走，像牛進屠宰場，像狗被引誘到鐵鏈中；如同鳥兒急入機檻，卻不知那會要了牠的命；等到有箭穿進牠的肝兒，卻已遲了。

因此災難必突然臨到；頃刻間他就破碎，無法可治。

他必向惡人下炭火跟硫磺雨；必有焚燒的風做他們杯中的分。

說：『巴不得連你也在這日子知道那關於你平安之事哦；無奈已被隱藏、使你的眼看不出來了。因為日子必臨到你，你的仇敵必給你環築起土壘來，周圍環繞你，四面困住你，摔毁你和你裏面你那些兒女，不容你裏面有一塊石頭留在一塊石頭上；因為你認不出你被鑒察的時機。』

但上帝卻對他說：「糊塗人哪，就在今天夜裏，你的財物就要要你的命了！你所豫備的、要歸誰呢？」

在外國人中間持守你們的好為人，使他們在毁謗你們為作惡的情形下、因親眼看見了你們的好行為、便在鑒察的日子歸榮耀於上帝。

因為他因自己的腳而被投入網中，走於纏人的圈套上。機檻抓住他的腳跟，羅網把他逮住。活扣埋藏於地中等着他，捕機安設在路上候着他。

那麼這罪罰對於你們就必像有裂縫、凸出來、行將倒塌的高牆；其崩垮準會在頃刻間突然臨到的。

但這些人呢、像無理性的畜生，屬獸性、為被捉拿和敗壞而生的！在不知不懂的事上他們竟毁謗，他們必在他們的敗壞中被敗壞；

因為他說：『在接納的時機我俯聽了你；在拯救的日子我援助了你』；你看，現在正是悅納的時機啊；你看，現在正是拯救的日子啊。

你們雖曾被魔鬼活捉了去，以隨從他的意思，也能醒悟過來、脫離魔鬼的網羅。
