我又转念：见日光之下，快跑的未必能赢；力战的未必得胜；智慧的未必得粮食；明哲的未必得资财；灵巧的未必得喜悦。所临到众人的是在乎当时的机会。

我转而回顾日光之下，快跑的未必能赢，强壮的未必战胜，智慧的未必得粮食，聪明的未必得财富，有学问的未必得人喜悦，全在乎各人遇上的时候和机会。

我又看见在日光之下，跑得快的未必得奖，勇士未必战胜，智慧的未必得粮食，精明的未必致富，博学的未必得人赏识，因为时机和际遇左右众人。

我又轉念：見日光之下，快跑的未必能贏；力戰的未必得勝；智慧的未必得糧食；明哲的未必得資財；靈巧的未必得喜悅。所臨到眾人的是在乎當時的機會。

我又看：在日光之下、賽跑未必給輕快的先跑到，戰爭未必給勇士得勝利，糧食也未必給智慧人得着，財富未必給明達人賺得到，恩寵也未必給有知識的人博得着：他們所碰到的就只是定時與機會。

我轉眼又看到日光之下：快跑的未必賽贏，勇士未必戰勝，有智慧的未必得糧食，有悟性的未必得財富，明智者未必得恩惠；因為時機和機遇勝過一切。

我轉觀日下、疾趨者未必先至、力戰者未必獲勝、智者未必得食、達者未必得財、有技能者未必蒙恩寵、凡事皆由時勢而成、

我又遍覽天下事、疾趨未必先至、勁旅未必獲捷、有智未必得餱糧、聰明未必得貨財、機巧未必沐恩寵、凡百之事、悉由偶然而至。

我又觀日下之事、見疾趨者未必先至、有力者未必得勝、智者未必得食、哲者未必得財、有識者未必蒙恩、凡眾所遇、或隨時會、或屬偶然、

I have seen something else under the sun: The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all.

Here’s something else I’ve seen on this earth. Races aren’t always won by those who run fast. Battles aren’t always won by those who are strong. Wise people don’t always have plenty of food. Clever people aren’t always wealthy. Those who have learned a lot aren’t always successful. God controls the timing of every event. He also controls how things turn out.

Again I saw that under the sun the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, nor bread to the wise, nor riches to the intelligent, nor favor to those with knowledge, but time and chance happen to them all.

I have observed something else under the sun. The fastest runner doesn’t always win the race, and the strongest warrior doesn’t always win the battle. The wise sometimes go hungry, and the skillful are not necessarily wealthy. And those who are educated don’t always lead successful lives. It is all decided by chance, by being in the right place at the right time.

Again I saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, or the battle to the strong, or bread to the wise, or riches to the discerning, or favor to the skillful; rather, time and chance happen to all of them.

I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning, nor favor to the skillful; for time and chance overtake them all.

I returned and saw under the sun that— The race is not to the swift, Nor the battle to the strong, Nor bread to the wise, Nor riches to men of understanding, Nor favor to men of skill; But time and chance happen to them all.

Again, I observed this on the earth: the race is not always won by the swiftest, the battle is not always won by the strongest; prosperity does not always belong to those who are the wisest, wealth does not always belong to those who are the most discerning, nor does success always come to those with the most knowledge– for time and chance may overcome them all.

I returned and saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favor to men of skill; but time and chance happen to them all.

任何的智慧、聪慧和谋略，都无法在耶和华面前站立得住。马为战争之日所预备，得胜却在于耶和华。

我心里说：“义人和恶人，神都会审判；因为在他那里，万事万务都有定时。”

我知道：神所做的一切，都必永存，无可增添，无可减少；神这样做，是要人在他面前心存敬畏。

君王不能靠军队众多得拯救，勇士不能靠力量强大得解救；靠马得救是枉然的，马不能靠它的力大救人。

他喜欢的不是马的力量，他喜悦的不是人的脚力——耶和华喜悦的是那些敬畏他的人、那些期盼他慈爱的人。

智慧人看得见他的道路，愚昧人却在黑暗中行走。不过我也明白，同样的命运会临到他们这两种人。于是我心里说：“既然愚昧人的命运也照样会临到我，那么我为什么要更有智慧呢？”我心里就说：“这也是虚空！”

我也看到，一切的劳苦和各样工作的技能，都是出于人与邻人之间的嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风！

我转眼又看到在日光之下所行的一切欺压。看哪，受欺压者流泪，无人安慰他们！权势在欺压他们的人手中，却无人安慰受欺压者！

我转眼去看智慧、狂妄和愚昧。那在王之后来的人，到底能做什么呢？不过是先前所做过的而已。

你们不要再说高傲自大的话，不要让傲慢的话从你们口中出来，因为耶和华是全知的神，人的行为都被他衡量。勇士的弓被折断，衰弱的却以力量束腰；饱足的为食物受雇，饥饿的却不再挨饿；不能怀孕的生了七个，儿子众多的反倒衰颓。耶和华使人死，也使人活；使人下阴间，也使人从那里上来。耶和华使人贫穷，也使人富有；使人降卑，也使人升高。他从尘土中兴起贫弱者，从粪堆中提拔贫穷人，要使他们与高贵者同坐，使他们继承荣耀的宝座；因为大地的支柱都属于耶和华，他把世界安置在其上。他必保守他忠信者的脚步，恶人却在黑暗中灭亡；人得胜不是靠着力量。耶和华必击碎那些与他抗争的，他将从天上打雷攻击他们。耶和华必审判地极；他将赐力量给他所立的王，使他受膏者的角高举。”

在基督里，我们也得了继业，是照着那一位的心意而预先定下的，他按着自己旨意的计划来运作万事，

因此自高是他们的项链，残暴如衣裳披在他们的身上。他们的眼睛因体胖而凸出，心里的妄想四处泛滥。

你当思索神的作为，因为他折弯的，谁能够拉直呢？

那时，你们必再次看出义人与恶人、服事神的人与不服事神的人的区别。”

地上所有的居民都算为无有，他照着自己的旨意对待天上的众军和地上的居民。没有人能拦住他的手，或对他说：“你做什么？”

这样大卫用投石索和石头胜了那非利士人。大卫手中没有刀，却击倒了那非利士人，杀了他。
