As no one has power over the wind to contain it, so no one has power over the time of their death. As no one is discharged in time of war, so wickedness will not release those who practice it.

No one can stop the wind from blowing. And no one has the power to decide when they will die. No one is let out of the army in times of war. And evil won’t let go of those who practice it.

No man has power to retain the spirit, or power over the day of death. There is no discharge from war, nor will wickedness deliver those who are given to it.

None of us can hold back our spirit from departing. None of us has the power to prevent the day of our death. There is no escaping that obligation, that dark battle. And in the face of death, wickedness will certainly not rescue the wicked.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain it, and there is no authority over the day of death; no one is discharged during battle, and wickedness will not allow those who practice it to escape.

No one has authority over the wind to restrain the wind, nor authority over the day of death; and there is no military discharge in the time of war, and evil will not save those who practice it.

人的日子既然被限定，他的月數亦在乎你，你也定下他的界限，使他不能越過。

因為你們曾說：“我們與死亡立了約，與陰間結了盟；刑罰的鞭子掃過的時候，必不會碰到我們，因為我們以謊言作遮蔽，以虛假作庇護。”

按著定命，人人都要死一次，死後還有審判。

惡人必因自己所行的惡事被推倒，義人死的時候仍有所倚靠。

有哪一個人能長活不死，能救自己的性命脫離陰間的權勢呢？（細拉）

他因著軟弱被釘死了，卻靠著神的大能活著。我們在他裡面也是軟弱的，但靠著神向你們所顯的大能，也必與他一同活著。

惡人都必歸到陰間，忘記神的列國都必滅亡。

他們倚靠財富，自誇多財。但他們沒有一個能把他的兄弟贖回，或把他的贖價交給神，（因為他生命的贖價非常昂貴，只好永遠放棄，）使他永遠活著，不見朽壞。

你實在把他們安放在滑地，使他們倒下、滅亡。他們忽然間成了多麼荒涼，被突然的驚恐完全消滅。人睡醒了怎樣看夢，主啊！你睡醒了，也要照樣輕看他們（“他們”原文作“他們的影像”）。我心中酸苦，我肺腑刺痛的時候，我是愚昧無知的；我在你面前就像畜類一般。但是，我仍常與你同在；你緊握著我的右手。你要以你的訓言引領我，以後還要接我到榮耀裡去。除你以外，在天上，我還有誰呢？除你以外，在地上，我也無所愛慕。我的肉身和我的內心雖然漸漸衰弱，神卻永遠是我心裡的磐石，是我的業分。看哪！遠離你的，必定滅亡；凡是對你不貞的，你都要滅絕。對我來說，親近神是美好的，我以主耶和華為我的避難所；我要述說你的一切作為。

所種的是卑賤的，復活的是榮耀的；所種的是軟弱的，復活的是有能力的；

你們與死亡所立的約要廢除，你們與陰間所結的盟必立不住；刑罰的鞭子掃過的時候，你們就必被踐踏。

他若對人決心這樣作，他若把靈與氣收歸自己，

我們都是必死的，像水潑在地上不能收回來一樣；但神並不取去人的命，反而設法使逃亡的人不致永遠離開他逃亡。

神必把你永遠拆毀；他必把你挪去，把你從帳棚中揪出來，把你從活人之地連根拔起。（細拉）義人必看見而懼怕；他們必譏笑他，說：“看哪！這就是那不以神為自己保障的人，他只倚靠自己豐盛的財富，以毀滅別人來加強自己的力量。”

他們就去追蹤亞蘭軍直到約旦河。看哪，沿途堆滿了衣物器具，就是亞蘭人在匆忙逃走時丟棄的。於是使者回去向王報告。

有誰知道人的靈是往上升，牲畜的魂（“魂”的原文與“靈”〔3:21〕和“氣息”〔3:19〕相同）是下降而入地呢？”

“你出去和你的仇敵作戰的時候，看見馬匹、車輛和比你多的人群，你不要怕他們，因為那把你們從埃及地領上來的耶和華你的神，與你同在。你們快要上戰場的時候，祭司要上前來，對人民說話，對他們說：‘以色列人哪，你們要聽，你們今日快要和仇敵作戰，你們不要膽怯，不要懼怕，不要驚慌，不要因他們的緣故戰兢；因為耶和華你們的神和你們同去，要為你們攻打你們的仇敵，要拯救你們。’官長也要對人民宣告：‘誰建造了新房屋，還沒有行過奉獻禮的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在戰場上，別人去為他的房屋行奉獻禮。誰栽種了葡萄園，還沒有享用過它的果子的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在戰場上，別人去享用它的果子。誰與女子訂了婚，還沒有迎娶的，他可以回家去，恐怕他死在戰場上，別人去娶了她。’官長又要對人民宣告：‘誰是懼怕、膽怯的，他可以回家去，恐怕他使他兄弟的心融化，像他的心一樣。’
