人苟生百子、享壽高、歷年久、而心不得享福、身不獲安葬、我謂未盈期而生者、較彼尤愈、

人有百子、又獲遐齡、生不能享福、死不得善葬、以我觀之、胎未成人者、較彼愈美。

設人生百子、又享遐齡、在世之年日甚多、而不得享所有以為福、死後亦不得安葬、以我觀之、以我觀之原文作我則曰胎死者較彼尤美、

A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children. He might live a long time. But suppose he can’t enjoy his wealth. And suppose he isn’t buried in the proper way. Then it doesn’t matter how long he lives. I’m telling you that a baby that is born dead is better off than that man is.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life’s good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children and live to be very old. But if he finds no satisfaction in life and doesn’t even get a decent burial, it would have been better for him to be born dead.

或像隱而未現、不到期而落的胎，歸於無有，如同未見光的嬰孩。

並且我以為那未曾生的，就是未見過日光之下惡事的，比這兩等人更強。

他被埋葬，好像埋驢一樣，要拉出去扔在耶路撒冷的城門之外。

他們就去葬埋她，只尋得她的頭骨和腳，並手掌。

雅各對法老說：「我寄居在世的年日是一百三十歲，我平生的年日又少又苦，不及我列祖在世寄居的年日。」

惟獨你被拋棄，不得入你的墳墓，好像可憎的枝子，以被殺的人為衣，就是被刀刺透，墜落坑中石頭那裏的；你又像被踐踏的屍首一樣。你不得與君王同葬；因為你敗壞你的國，殺戮你的民。惡人後裔的名，必永不提說。

以利為以利加拿和他的妻祝福，說：「願耶和華由這婦人再賜你後裔，代替你從耶和華求來的孩子。」他們就回本鄉去了。耶和華眷顧哈拿，她就懷孕生了三個兒子，兩個女兒。那孩子撒母耳在耶和華面前漸漸長大。

以掃舉目看見婦人孩子，就說：「這些和你同行的是誰呢？」雅各說：「這些孩子是神施恩給你的僕人的。」

王便允准如此行。旨意傳在書珊，人就把哈曼十個兒子的屍首掛起來了。亞達月十四日，書珊的猶大人又聚集在書珊，殺了三百人，卻沒有下手奪取財物。

拋散在日頭、月亮，和天上眾星之下，就是他們從前所喜愛、所事奉、所隨從、所求問、所敬拜的。這些骸骨不再收殮，不再葬埋，必在地面上成為糞土；

亞哈有七十個兒子在撒馬利亞。耶戶寫信送到撒馬利亞，通知耶斯列的首領，就是長老和教養亞哈眾子的人，說：

羅波安娶十八個妻，立六十個妾，生二十八個兒子，六十個女兒；他卻愛押沙龍的女兒瑪迦，比愛別的妻妾更甚。

人子必要去世，正如經上指着他所寫的；但賣人子的人有禍了！那人不生在世上倒好。」

並且他終身在黑暗中吃喝，多有煩惱，又有病患嘔氣。我所見為善為美的，就是人在神賜他一生的日子吃喝，享受日光之下勞碌得來的好處，因為這是他的分。神賜人資財豐富，使他能以吃用，能取自己的分，在他勞碌中喜樂，這乃是神的恩賜。

願他們像蝸牛消化過去，又像婦人墜落未見天日的胎。

於是人將哈曼掛在他為末底改所預備的木架上。王的忿怒這才止息。

所以耶和華論到猶大王約雅敬說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在大衛的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白日受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。

耶和華賜我許多兒子，在我兒子中揀選所羅門坐耶和華的國位，治理以色列人。

少年時所生的兒女好像勇士手中的箭。箭袋充滿的人便為有福；他們在城門口和仇敵說話的時候，必不至於羞愧。

子孫為老人的冠冕；父親是兒女的榮耀。

哈曼將他富厚的榮耀、眾多的兒女，和王擡舉他使他超乎首領臣僕之上，都述說給他們聽。
