人若生一百个儿子，活许多岁数，以致他的年日甚多，心里却不得满享福乐，又不得埋葬；据我说，那不到期而落的胎比他倒好。

人苟生百子、享壽高、歷年久、而心不得享福、身不獲安葬、我謂未盈期而生者、較彼尤愈、

人有百子、又獲遐齡、生不能享福、死不得善葬、以我觀之、胎未成人者、較彼愈美。

設人生百子、又享遐齡、在世之年日甚多、而不得享所有以為福、死後亦不得安葬、以我觀之、以我觀之原文作我則曰胎死者較彼尤美、

A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children. He might live a long time. But suppose he can’t enjoy his wealth. And suppose he isn’t buried in the proper way. Then it doesn’t matter how long he lives. I’m telling you that a baby that is born dead is better off than that man is.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life’s good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children and live to be very old. But if he finds no satisfaction in life and doesn’t even get a decent burial, it would have been better for him to be born dead.

A man may father a hundred children and live many years. No matter how long he lives, if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

但那还没有出生的人，比这两者更好，因他没有见过在日光之下所行的恶事。

雅各回答法老：“我在世寄居的年日有一百三十年了；我一生的年日又少又苦，不及我祖先在世寄居的年日。”

而你却被抛出坟墓，如同一根被憎恶的枝子；你被那些遭刀剑刺透杀死、落入石坑的人所覆盖，如同一具被践踏的尸体。你必不能与其他君王同葬，因为你毁坏了你的国，杀戮了你的民。愿作恶者的后裔永不被提起！

以利就会祝福以利加拿和他妻子，说：“愿耶和华藉着这妇人再赐给你后裔，代替她求来献给耶和华的这孩子。”然后，他们就回自己的地方去了。耶和华眷顾哈娜，她就怀孕，又生了三个儿子、两个女儿。那孩子撒母耳在耶和华面前渐渐长大。

以扫举目，看见女人们和孩子们，就说：“这些与你在一起的是谁呢？”雅各说：“这些孩子是神施恩赐给你仆人的。”

王就下令如此做了。于是这法令在苏萨颁布，人们把哈曼的十个儿子挂了起来。亚达月十四日，苏萨的犹太人又聚集起来，在苏萨击杀了三百人，但没有下手掠夺财物。

人子确实要离去，正如经上指着他所写的，但是出卖人子的那个人有祸了。对他来说，没有出生倒好。”

并且他一生的日子都在黑暗中吃喝，多有烦恼、疾病和怒气。看哪，我所见为善为美的，就是人在神所赐给他一生可数的日子里吃喝，享受他在日光之下劳苦所得的一切好处，因为这是他的份。而且，对每个蒙神赐予财富资产的人，神也使他能享用，并领受他的份，在自己的劳苦中欢喜——这就是神的恩赐。

愿他们像蜗牛那样在爬行中消融，又像女人流产的胎儿未见天日。

于是人就把哈曼挂在他为末迪凯所预备的木架上。王的怒火这才平息了。

年轻时所生的儿女，好像勇士手中的箭矢。箭袋满满的人，是蒙福的！他们即使在城门口与仇敌说话，也不致蒙羞。

子孙是老年人的冠冕，父亲是儿女的荣耀。

哈曼向他们讲述了他的富贵荣华、他儿女的众多，以及王怎样高抬他、提拔他高过首领们和王的臣仆们的一切事。
