God gives some people wealth, possessions and honor, so that they lack nothing their hearts desire, but God does not grant them the ability to enjoy them, and strangers enjoy them instead. This is meaningless, a grievous evil.

他们的眼睛因体胖而凸出，心里的妄想四处泛滥。

然后，我要对我的灵魂说：灵魂哪，你拥有了很多好东西，足以享用多年，你就休息、吃喝、庆祝吧。’“可是神对他说：‘你这愚妄的人哪！今夜，他们就要召回你的灵魂了。那么，你所预备的要归谁呢？’

有一个人孤单无伴，连儿子和兄弟也没有；但他各样的劳苦却没有穷尽，他的眼目也不因财富而满足；他问：“我如此劳苦，也不让自己过好日子，到底是为了谁呢？”这也是虚空，是极重的担子！

这也是一件令人痛心的悲苦之事，就是他来的时候怎样，去的时候也怎样；他为风劳苦，对他有什么益处呢？

我也看到，一切的劳苦和各样工作的技能，都是出于人与邻人之间的嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风！

王啊，至高神把国度、权势、尊荣和威严赐给了你先王尼布甲尼撒！

我扩建工程，为自己建造房屋，种植葡萄园；我为自己造了庭园和园林，在其中栽种各样的果树；我为自己造了水池，用以浇灌长满树木的林子；我买下了男仆和婢女，我也有生在我家里的奴仆；我还拥有大量的牛群和羊群，超过我之前在耶路撒冷的所有人；我又为自己积聚金银，还有来自君王们和各省的珍宝。我也为自己招纳了男女歌手，以及许多的妃嫔，都是世人引以为乐的。于是我日渐昌大，超越了我之前在耶路撒冷的所有人，而我的智慧仍然与我同在。我的眼目所追求的一切，我都不禁止；我的心所欢喜的一切，我都不拒绝；因为我的心在我一切的劳苦中欢喜——这就是我在一切劳苦中所得的份。

人们往来行走，只是幻像；他们喧闹，也是虚空；他们积蓄，却不知道谁会收取。
