人若有一百個兒子，並且長壽，但心中卻從未得到滿足，死後又不得安葬。唉！這樣的人還不如流產的胎兒。

人若生一百个儿子，活许多岁数，以致他的年日甚多，心里却不得满享福乐，又不得埋葬；据我说，那不到期而落的胎比他倒好。

人苟生百子、享壽高、歷年久、而心不得享福、身不獲安葬、我謂未盈期而生者、較彼尤愈、

人有百子、又獲遐齡、生不能享福、死不得善葬、以我觀之、胎未成人者、較彼愈美。

設人生百子、又享遐齡、在世之年日甚多、而不得享所有以為福、死後亦不得安葬、以我觀之、以我觀之原文作我則曰胎死者較彼尤美、

A man may have a hundred children and live many years; yet no matter how long he lives, if he cannot enjoy his prosperity and does not receive proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children. He might live a long time. But suppose he can’t enjoy his wealth. And suppose he isn’t buried in the proper way. Then it doesn’t matter how long he lives. I’m telling you that a baby that is born dead is better off than that man is.

If a man fathers a hundred children and lives many years, so that the days of his years are many, but his soul is not satisfied with life’s good things, and he also has no burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

A man might have a hundred children and live to be very old. But if he finds no satisfaction in life and doesn’t even get a decent burial, it would have been better for him to be born dead.

A man may father a hundred children and live many years. No matter how long he lives, if he is not satisfied by good things and does not even have a proper burial, I say that a stillborn child is better off than he.

為何我沒有像未見天日就流產的嬰兒一樣消逝？

不過，比以上兩種人更幸運的是那從未出生的人，他們從未見過日光之下各樣的惡行。

你必像死驢一樣被拖到耶路撒冷的城門外，曝屍荒野。」

他們出去埋葬她，卻只找到她的頭骨、手掌和腳，

雅各回答說：「我在世上寄居一百三十年了，我的日子又苦又短，不像我祖先那樣高壽。」

只有你像一根毫無用處的樹枝，被拋棄在自己的墳墓外。你就像一具遭人踐踏的屍體，與喪身刀下的人一同被扔進亂石坑裡。你必得不到君王的葬禮，因為你禍國殃民，殺害自己的百姓。「惡人的子孫必永遠被遺忘。

以利祝福以利加拿和他妻子，對他說：「願耶和華讓你妻子再給你生兒育女，代替她求來並獻給耶和華的孩子。」他們就回家去了。耶和華眷顧哈娜，她又生了三個兒子和兩個女兒。年少的撒母耳在耶和華面前漸漸長大。

以掃看見跟在雅各後面的婦女和孩子，就問：「這些和你同行的是誰？」雅各說：「這些孩子是上帝施恩賜給你僕人的。」

王允准了，便在書珊城頒佈諭旨，哈曼十個兒子的屍體便被吊了起來。亞達月十四日，書珊城的猶太人再次聚集起來，在城中殺了三百人，但沒有動他們的財物。

拋散在他們昔日戀慕、供奉、追隨、求問、祭拜的日月星辰之下，無人收殮和埋葬，他們好像地上的糞便。

亞哈在撒瑪利亞有七十個子孫。耶戶寫信給那裡的首領、長老以及亞哈子孫的監護人，說：

羅波安共有十八個妻子、六十個妾、二十八個兒子、六十個女兒。眾妻妾中瑪迦最得寵愛，

人子一定會受害，正如聖經上有關祂的記載，但出賣人子的人有禍了，他還不如不生在這世上！」

他一生活在黑暗中，飽受煩惱、病痛和憤怒的困擾。我認為人生最美最善的是，在上帝所賜的短暫歲月中盡情吃喝，享受自己在日光之下勞苦得來的成果。因為這是人當得的。上帝不單給人財富，也叫他能吃能喝，享用自己所當得的，並在勞碌中得到快樂，這都是上帝的恩賜。

願他們像蝸牛一樣溶為爛泥，又如流產的胎兒不見天日。

於是，哈曼被吊在他為末底改預備的木架上，王的怒氣這才平息。

所以耶和華說，猶大王約雅敬啊，你的子孫沒有一人能登大衛的寶座，你的屍體必被棄之荒野，遭受烈日的暴曬和夜霜的侵襲。

耶和華賜給我許多兒子，祂在我眾子中揀選了所羅門，讓他坐以色列的王位，治理耶和華的國。

人年輕時生的兒女猶如戰士手中的箭。袋中裝滿了箭的人有福了！他們在城門與仇敵爭論時，必不致蒙羞。

子孫是老人的華冠，父母是兒女的榮耀。

向他們誇耀自己的榮華富貴和兒孫滿堂，以及王怎樣擢升他，使他位極人臣。
