我又見人為一切的勞碌和各樣靈巧的工作就被鄰舍嫉妒。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

我看见各样的劳碌和各样精巧的工作，都是出于人与人彼此的竞争。这也是虚空，也是捕风。

我也看到，一切的劳苦和各样工作的技能，都是出于人与邻人之间的嫉妒。这也是虚空，也是捕风！

我見人因彼此嫉妒而有一切的勞碌和各樣工作的成就，這也是虛空，也是捕風。

我又看見人的一切勞碌和成就原是出於爭強好勝。這也是虛空，如同捕風。

我看見各樣的勞碌和各樣精巧的工作，都是出於人與人彼此的競爭。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

我又看一切勞碌和各樣工作上的技巧都是人對鄰舍羨慕之表現：這也是虛空，也是捕風。

我也看到，一切的勞苦和各樣工作的技能，都是出於人與鄰人之間的嫉妒。這也是虛空，也是捕風！

我見人因勞力、及諸巧工、為鄰所嫉、斯亦虛空、乃為捕風、

我觀世人、勞而得功、同人媢嫉、此亦捕風捉影而已。

我觀世人勞碌經營、皆緣彼此相妒、此亦屬於虛、皆如捕風、

And I saw that all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

I also saw that a person works hard and accomplishes a lot. But they do it only because they want what another person has. That doesn’t have any meaning either. It’s like chasing the wind.

Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man’s envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

Then I observed that most people are motivated to success because they envy their neighbors. But this, too, is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to one person’s jealousy of another. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

I have seen that every labor and every skill which is done is the result of rivalry between a person and his neighbor. This too is futility and striving after wind.

Again, I saw that for all toil and every skillful work a man is envied by his neighbor. This also is vanity and grasping for the wind.

Then I saw all labor and every skilful work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to a man’s jealousy of his friend. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

Again, I considered all travail, and every right work, that for this a man is envied of his neighbour. This[ is] also vanity and vexation of spirit.

Then I considered all the skillful work that is done: Surely it is nothing more than competition between one person and another. This also is profitless– like chasing the wind.

Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man’s neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.

我見日光之下所做的一切事，都是虛空，都是捕風。

因為有人用智慧、知識、靈巧所勞碌得來的，卻要留給未曾勞碌的人為分。這也是虛空，也是大患。

加增虛浮的事既多，這與人有甚麼益處呢？

掃羅甚發怒，不喜悅這話，就說：「將萬萬歸大衛，千千歸我，只剩下王位沒有給他了。」從這日起，掃羅就怒視大衛。

神喜悅誰，就給誰智慧、知識，和喜樂；惟有罪人，神使他勞苦，叫他將所收聚的、所堆積的歸給神所喜悅的人。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

亞伯也將他羊羣中頭生的和羊的脂油獻上。耶和華看中了亞伯和他的供物，只是看不中該隱和他的供物。該隱就大大地發怒，變了臉色。耶和華對該隱說：「你為甚麼發怒呢？你為甚麼變了臉色呢？你若行得好，豈不蒙悅納？你若行得不好，罪就伏在門前。它必戀慕你，你卻要制伏它。」該隱與他兄弟亞伯說話；二人正在田間。該隱起來打他兄弟亞伯，把他殺了。

他所治理的眾人就是他的百姓，多得無數；在他後來的人尚且不喜悅他。這真是虛空，也是捕風。

眼睛所看的比心裏妄想的倒好。這也是虛空，也是捕風。

大衛做事無不精明，耶和華也與他同在。掃羅見大衛做事精明，就甚怕他。但以色列和猶大眾人都愛大衛，因為他領他們出入。

雅各的記略如下。約瑟十七歲與他哥哥們一同牧羊。他是個童子，與他父親的妾辟拉、悉帕的兒子們常在一處。約瑟將他哥哥們的惡行報給他們的父親。以色列原來愛約瑟過於愛他的眾子，因為約瑟是他年老生的；他給約瑟做了一件彩衣。約瑟的哥哥們見父親愛約瑟過於愛他們，就恨約瑟，不與他說和睦的話。約瑟做了一夢，告訴他哥哥們，他們就越發恨他。約瑟對他們說：「請聽我所做的夢：我們在田裏捆禾稼，我的捆起來站着，你們的捆來圍着我的捆下拜。」他的哥哥們回答說：「難道你真要作我們的王嗎？難道你真要管轄我們嗎？」他們就因為他的夢和他的話越發恨他。後來他又做了一夢，也告訴他的哥哥們說：「看哪，我又做了一夢，夢見太陽、月亮，與十一個星向我下拜。」約瑟將這夢告訴他父親和他哥哥們，他父親就責備他說：「你做的這是甚麼夢！難道我和你母親、你弟兄果然要來俯伏在地，向你下拜嗎？」他哥哥們都嫉妒他，他父親卻把這話存在心裏。

就更怕大衛，常作大衛的仇敵。每逢非利士軍長出來打仗，大衛比掃羅的臣僕做事精明，因此他的名被人尊重。

忿怒為殘忍，怒氣為狂瀾，惟有嫉妒，誰能敵得住呢？

巡撫原知道他們是因為嫉妒才把他解了來。

你們想經上所說是徒然的嗎？神所賜、住在我們裏面的靈，是戀愛至於嫉妒嗎？
