故我思、人莫若樂享所經營者、以為可得之分惟此、身後之事、孰能使之逆睹哉、

So I saw that there is nothing better for a person than to enjoy their work, because that is their lot. For who can bring them to see what will happen after them?

So a person should enjoy their work. That’s what God made them for. I saw that there’s nothing better for them to do than that. After all, who can show them what will happen after they are gone?

So I saw that there is nothing better than that a man should rejoice in his work, for that is his lot. Who can bring him to see what will be after him?

So I saw that there is nothing better for people than to be happy in their work. That is our lot in life. And no one can bring us back to see what happens after we die.

I have seen that there is nothing better than for a person to enjoy his activities because that is his reward. For who can enable him to see what will happen after he dies?

I have seen that nothing is better than when a person is happy in his activities, for that is his lot. For who will bring him to see what will occur after him?

So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?

Wherefore I saw that there is nothing better, than that a man should rejoice in his works; for that is his portion: for who shall bring him back to see what shall be after him?

I have seen that there is nothing better than for a person to enjoy his activities because that is his reward. For who can enable him to see what will happen after he dies?

若言人既勞碌、莫若以食以飲、安享其樂、我又見其權在乎天主、

天主造物、皆合其時、無不美備、亦使人心悅世事、亦使人心悅世事或作亦使人心念永時人若欲測天主之作為、自始至終、實所不能、我知世人終身、惟有喜樂與行善為美、

未來之事、人不能知、將成之事、孰能預告之、

愚者多言無益、將來之事、人不能知、身後之事、孰能告人、

人生於世、為日無多、虛空若影、孰能知在世之時、何者為益、人逝世後、將有何事於日下、孰能告之、

爾當常因主而喜樂、我復言爾曹當喜樂、爾當使眾知爾之溫良、主已近矣、

少者乎、爾幼時可欣喜、爾在幼年心可歡悅、行爾心所欲行之道、視爾目所欲視者、惟當知天主、必為此一切審鞫爾、

然無論何人、天主賜以貨財產業、能以享用、能取其分、能樂其由勞碌而得者、此亦天主所賜、不常思其年壽、因天主使之諸事遂心、得以歡樂故也、

主所賜我之地、今我攜其首熟之土產至、禱告既畢、遂以筐供於主爾之天主前、且於主爾之天主前崇拜、緣主爾之天主以福賜爾及爾眷屬、可欣喜歡樂、亦使利未人與寄居爾間之外邦客旅皆然、○

子孫尊榮亦不知、後裔卑賤亦不覺、

勿為明日憂慮、明日之事、俟明日憂慮、一日惟受一日之勞苦足矣、

時勢或作終局如何、人不得知、如魚之入網、網原文作惡網如鳥之入羅、禍患忽臨於人、而人陷其中亦若是、○

爾莫若以欣喜食爾之餅、以歡心飲爾之酒、因天主已悅爾之所為、爾之衣恆當潔白、爾之首勿缺香膏、天主賜爾在日下生存之日、皆虛浮無幾、爾莫若同所愛之妻、歡然度日、因爾生存之時、在日下勞碌所得之分惟此、

不禁我目欲所欲者、不禁我心樂所樂者、蓋我思我既勞碌操作、我心享樂、宜也、此我由我一切勞碌所獲之分、厥後我觀我手所經營一切、及我所勞碌而得者、乃知皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、在日下毫無所益、○

在彼在主前食之食之或作以祭肉筵宴且與眷屬可欣喜歡樂、因所為之事、蒙主爾之天主賜福也、或作在彼在主爾之天主前爾與眷屬依主爾之天主於爾所為之事賜爾之福筵宴歡樂

惟爾往哉、待爾之終、必將安寢、而末日必起、享為爾所定之福、或作惟爾往哉安居本業直至壽終末日必起享為爾所定之福

惟當食於主爾天主之前、在主爾天主所選之處、爾與子女奴婢、及居於爾邑中之利未人俱可食之、爾無論所為之事、皆當宴樂於主爾天主之前、

當殷勤勿怠、中熱志銳、且奉事主、有望則喜、遭難則忍、恆於祈禱、

我稱譽喜樂、以為人在日下、莫美於食飲宴樂、天主使人生在日下勞碌終身、所得者惟此、

曰、但以理往哉、斯言隱秘封緘、以俟末期、多人將被試鍊、以致清淨潔白、惡人仍作惡、惡者不能明、智人能明、

緣爾當富有之時、不歡心樂意奉事主爾之天主、
