I also said to myself,“ God tests human beings. He does this so they can see that in certain ways they are like animals.

I said in my heart with regard to the children of man that God is testing them that they may see that they themselves are but beasts.

I also thought about the human condition— how God proves to people that they are like animals.

I said to myself,“ This happens so that God may test the children of Adam and they may see for themselves that they are like animals.”

I said to myself regarding the sons of mankind,“ God is testing them in order for them to see that they are as animals, they to themselves.”

I said in my heart,“ Concerning the condition of the sons of men, God tests them, that they may see that they themselves are like animals.”

I said in my heart, It is because of the sons of men, that God may prove them, and that they may see that they themselves are but as beasts.

I said to myself,“ This happens concerning people, so that God may test them and they may see for themselves that they are like animals.”

I said in mine heart concerning the estate of the sons of men, that God might manifest them, and that they might see that they themselves are beasts.

I said in my heart,“ As for the sons of men, God tests them, so that they may see that they themselves are like animals.

I was ignorant and lacked insight; I was as senseless as an animal before you.

And just as people are appointed to die once, and then to face judgment,

But to Adam he said,“ Because you obeyed your wife and ate from the tree about which I commanded you,‘ You must not eat from it,’ cursed is the ground thanks to you; in painful toil you will eat of it all the days of your life.It will produce thorns and thistles for you, but you will eat the grain of the field.By the sweat of your brow you will eat food until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken; for you are dust, and to dust you will return.”

And what if he is willing to make known the wealth of his glory on the objects of mercy that he has prepared beforehand for glory–

But he will join his ancestors; they will never again see the light of day.Wealthy people do not understand; they are like animals that perish.

You bring their lives to an end and they“ fall asleep.” In the morning they are like the grass that sprouts up;in the morning it glistens and sprouts up; at evening time it withers and dries up.Yes, we are consumed by your anger; we are terrified by your wrath.You are aware of our sins; you even know about our hidden sins.Yes, throughout all our days we experience your raging fury; the years of our lives pass quickly, like a sigh.The days of our lives add up to seventy years, or eighty, if one is especially strong. But even one’s best years are marred by trouble and oppression. Yes, they pass quickly and we fly away.Who can really fathom the intensity of your anger? Your raging fury causes people to fear you.So teach us to consider our mortality, so that we might live wisely.

Against you– you above all– I have sinned; I have done what is evil in your sight. So you are just when you confront me; you are right when you condemn me.

But these men, like irrational animals– creatures of instinct, born to be caught and destroyed– do not understand whom they are insulting, and consequently in their destruction they will be destroyed,

“ Man, born of woman, lives but a few days, and they are full of trouble.He grows up like a flower and then withers away; he flees like a shadow, and does not remain.Do you fix your eye on such a one? And do you bring me before you for judgment?Who can make a clean thing come from an unclean? No one!

Surely you put them in slippery places; you bring them down to ruin.How desolate they become in a mere moment! Terrifying judgments make their demise complete!

how much less man, who is abominable and corrupt, who drinks in evil like water!

They will travel to Sheol like sheep, with death as their shepherd. The godly will rule over them when the day of vindication dawns; Sheol will consume their bodies and they will no longer live in impressive houses.

Would you indeed annul my justice? Would you declare me guilty so that you might be right?

Absolutely not! Let God be proven true, and every human being shown up as a liar, just as it is written:“ so that you will be justified in your words and will prevail when you are judged.”

but, despite their wealth, people do not last, they are like animals that perish.

For all flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of the grass; the grass withers and the flower falls off,
