以我觀之、上帝所賜、既勤勞而得之、則必以飲以食、安坐而享、樂莫大焉。

若言人既勞碌、莫若以食以飲、安享其樂、我又見其權在乎天主、

你要勸誡那些今世富足的人不要高傲，也不要冀望於靠不住的錢財，要信靠將萬物厚賜給我們享用的上帝。

我認識到，人生在世沒有什麼比歡樂、享受更好。人人都該吃喝、享受自己勞苦的成果，這是上帝的恩賜。

我認為人生最美最善的是，在上帝所賜的短暫歲月中盡情吃喝，享受自己在日光之下勞苦得來的成果。因為這是人當得的。上帝不單給人財富，也叫他能吃能喝，享用自己所當得的，並在勞碌中得到快樂，這都是上帝的恩賜。

去歡歡喜喜、快快樂樂地吃喝吧！因為上帝已經悅納你所做的。你的衣服要經常保持潔白，頭上也不要缺少膏油。在你虛空的人生中，就是在上帝所賜、日光之下虛空的歲月裡，你要與愛妻快樂度日，因為這是你一生在日光之下的勞碌中所當得的。

要在你們的上帝耶和華選定的地方，與兒女、僕婢及同城的利未人一起在耶和華面前吃。要為你們所做的一切，在你們的上帝耶和華面前歡喜快樂。

從人的角度看，我在以弗所與那些「惡獸」格鬥對我有什麼益處呢？如果死人不會復活，「讓我們吃喝吧！因為明天我們就死了。」

那時，我就可以對自己說，「你積存這麼多財產，一生享用不盡，現在大可高枕無憂、盡情地吃喝玩樂吧！」』但上帝對他說，『無知的人啊！今晚就要取走你的命！你所預備的一切留給誰享用呢？』」

在那裡，你們和兒女、僕婢及同城中沒有分到土地作產業的利未人，要一起在你們的上帝耶和華面前歡喜快樂。

卻從未停止用美善的事證實自己的存在。祂常施恩惠，降下甘霖，賞賜豐年，又叫你們衣食飽足，滿心喜樂。」

上帝賜給人財富和尊榮，叫他擁有所渴望的一切，卻使他無法享用，倒讓別人享用。這是虛空，是極大的悲哀。

年輕人啊，在年輕時要快樂，要在青春歲月裡使自己的心歡暢。心裡想做什麼就去做，眼睛想看什麼就去看。然而，要切記：上帝必照你所行的一切審判你。所以，你要拋開心中的煩惱和肉體的痛苦，因為青春年華轉瞬即逝。

萬軍之耶和華說：「如果你們不聽從我的話，也不從內心尊崇我的名，我必使咒詛臨到你們，把你們的福氣變成咒詛。事實上，因為你們不把我的誡命放在心上，我已經咒詛了你們。

尼希米又說：「你們去吃肥美的肉，喝甘甜的酒，並分些給一無所有的人，因為今天是我們主的聖日。不要悲傷，因為從耶和華而來的喜樂就是你們的力量。」
