斯世所為、殷憂慼慼、莫非捕風捉影、故我不樂其生。

我所以恨恶生命；因为在日光之下所行的事我都以为烦恼，都是虚空，都是捕风。

我遂惡生、因於日下經營、乃為煩惱、悉屬虛空、莫非捕風、

我厭惡生命、因我見日下所作之事、皆不善、皆屬於虛、皆如捕風、

So I hated life, because the work that is done under the sun was grievous to me. All of it is meaningless, a chasing after the wind.

So I hated life. That’s because the work done on this earth made me sad. None of it has any meaning. It’s like chasing the wind.

So I hated life, because what is done under the sun was grievous to me, for all is vanity and a striving after wind.

So I came to hate life because everything done here under the sun is so troubling. Everything is meaningless— like chasing the wind.

Therefore, I hated life because the work that was done under the sun was distressing to me. For everything is futile and a pursuit of the wind.

So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was unhappy to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

由後而觀、覺勞而得者、莫非捕風捉影、於事無益、

今求耶和華取我生命、願死勿生、

日出時、上帝使風東來、其氣炎熇日暴約拿之首、使之喪魂求死、曰、寧死不生、

願棄此微軀而就死地。已無樂生之心、不作永存之想、畢生遘難、毋寧舍子為幸。

天下之事、我已灼見、無非捕風捉影。

願上帝藏我於墓寢、否則處我於隱僻、以俟災消禍弭、又不然、定以何日、然後釋我。

我竊思死者較生者為尤幸。

寧享現在之福、勿作出位之思、莫非捕風捉影。

民自相爭、虐遇攘奪、至於召禍、爾何使我目睹乎、

人生於世、辛勤憂慼、何益之有、

我際兩難之間、甚欲歸、與基督共在為愈美、但在世有裨益於爾、倍加切要、我亦深知我必仍存、與爾同居、助爾樂於信主、

如蒙爾恩、與其待我若此、毋寧殺我、免我遭諸困苦。○

我生之辰、不祥孰甚、我母產予、其時勿吉。人告我父、已得男子、使父忻喜、予願是人所遭不幸。譬彼古邑、耶和華滅之、始息其怒、清晨則聞呼號、亭午則聞諠譁、我在母胎、曷弗見殺、曷弗使母恆妊、曷弗以胎為墓、我何生於世、受苦罹憂、畢生愧赧、

耶和華之神、大感於予、遊於象外、我心激烈、意甚惻怛、

我遍覽天下、公庭聽訟、當秉公義、而反狥私、

人壽幾何、請爾垂念、爾造世人、同歸於盡、寧非徒勞兮、

受難者得生存、苦心者得生全、曷故。彼望死亡而不能、猶人掘窖金而弗得。彼就死地則欣喜、歡樂不勝。

又行一日、至於曠野、坐於金雀花下、求欲喪命、曰、而今已矣、望耶和華取我生命、蓋我較之他先知、無能出乎其上。
