For with much wisdom comes much sorrow; the more knowledge, the more grief.

A lot of human wisdom leads to a lot of sorrow. More knowledge only brings more sadness.

Take care that no one deceives himself. But beyond this, my son, be warned: the writing of many books is endless, and excessive study is wearying to the body.The conclusion, when everything has been heard, is: fear God and keep His commandments, because this applies to every person.

Then I said to myself,“ As is the fate of the fool, it will also happen to me. Why then have I been extremely wise?” So I said to myself,“ This too is futility.”

Do not be excessively righteous, and do not be overly wise. Why should you ruin yourself?

Because all his days his activity is painful and irritating; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is futility.

Who among you is wise and understanding? Let him show by his good behavior his deeds in the gentleness of wisdom.But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your heart, do not be arrogant and so lie against the truth.This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy.
